1 out of 5 stars Don't buy this!   April 2, 2004

I bought this for my wife's birthday. Within 3 months it failed (wouldn't charge). Sent it back to Palm who returned it 'repaired'. Within 1-2 weeks failed again. This happened on a further two occasions before Palm agreed to replace it. Replacement sent last August.... it has just failed again.
Furthermore, there were enormous difficulties in acccessing the company for repair services. Palm seem to want to sell these but don't care what happens afterwards.

2 out of 5 stars Good for a year. Not dependable. Battery + screen problems.   March 15, 2004

My M130 will reset itself when I pull it in or out of the cradle or if I let it go uncharged over the weekend. I bought mine in May 2002 and it worked great for the first year but now I can't use the graffiti writing surface and the stylus calibration takes over 100 inputs before it finishes. A dictionary card will also reset my Palm. 2 stars for a year of good service.

Got extremely quickly, M130 has just one little problem, but nothing major for a used model. Thank you

3 out of 5 stars Not The Best One Out There...   January 11, 2004

This was one of the worst, yet best ideas Palm made.

The screen is smaller than any other Palm, yet it was in color. Also, there were noted problems with recharging. (My wife went through two m130s, that had problems with recharging/losing charge. I ended up getting her the m515 (with no problems).)

The idea was great because it appeals to the young generation, with interchangeable face plates.

Giving it the memory expandability was great, for a little more you could get the m5xx series.

Don't waste you money on any m1xx series. If you want an inexpensive Palm go with:
Monochrome = Palm Zire/Zire 21
Color = Palm Zire 71 or Tungsten E

2 out of 5 stars Great...when it works   December 11, 2003

I've owned an M130 for 2 years; its great when it works, which is sporadic. I owned 2 Palms previously and loved both of them. The M130 has been a disappointment since I opened the box. First, I spent an inordinate amount of days charging it and trying to get it up and running. It would not start. After a call to tech support, I was told this was a known bug, but it was not discovered until after the instructions had been boxed. The fix is to hit the reset button while pushing in the start button for around 20 seconds. It shuts down about every other month (usually if the battery begins to get low). However, now it seems unable to be resuscitated, so I have to purchase another handheld.

The cradle was a bit awkward for me to use at first: you push the Palm straightdown, but then to remove it from the cradle, you have to move it forward slightly, then pick it up. I was never able to get the Palm to seat correctly on the serial cradle, but the USB cradle works better.

Since the Palm won't work in the serial cradle I have at home, I only charge it on the weekdays. I use the Palm strictly for appointments and phone numbers...no games. However, all my appointments use alarms, and I have a lot of appointments. Unfortunately, this seems to drain the battery very quickly. A long weekend, and my Palm is dead.
