Fantastic keyboard and mouse. Minor aesthetic issue. January 11, 2005 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I've been using the Logitech Cordless MX Duo for a few months now of constant use. I am a big time typer and gamer and have easily but this keyboard and mouse combination through over 1000 hours of use.
The keyboard works great and does not have any latency at all, even when typing at extremely high speeds in excess of 120 WPM. The spacebar and return key on my keyboard are constantly struck, but they continue to work fine. After typing more than ten pages of text a day, all the keys are still responsive and feel the same when struck as when the keyboard was originally purchased. My keyboard has been running on its original set of batteries for months and hasn't slowed down whatsoever. The spacebar hasn't even shown any wear on the plastic which is the first time I've seen such a trait on a heavily used keyboard's spacebar.
The mouse also works very well with great response both in the OS and games alike. The mouse needs to be charged often, but as long as it's in the cradle for a few hours at a time every other day or so, it works fine.
The only problem I've been having with this combination wireless set is purely with aesthetics. The mouse paint is slowly starting to wear off due to heavy usage, exposing the white and silver plastic beneath. The areas showing the most wear are on the left mouse button, the base where my palm rests, and the left hand side where my thumbs rests. In these areas small patches no more than a few millimeters across have developed, completely revealing the plastic underneath.
All in all, this is a great keyboard and mouse combination for both the typical and hardcore computer user. If you don't plan on using your keyboards for hundreds of hours on end then it is highly unlikely that you will see the wear issues I described. If you will be using it constantly, and aesthetics aren't a concern, than I highly recommend this combination set from Logitech. For the average user of course, this keyboard rocks - plain and simple.
WHAT A BEST COMBO! December 16, 2004 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
IT'S THE BEST LOOKING COMBO YOU CAN ASK FOR YOUR WIRELESS DESKTOP. THE KEYBOARD IS QUIET AND VERY COMFORTABLE. WHEN THEY CLAIM IT'S ZERO DEGREE TILT, THEY MEANT IT! THE MOUCE IS EVEN BETTER THAN I THOUGHT. IN SHORT, BOTH WORK TOGETHER SEEMLESSLY. LOOK NO FURTHER. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I PAID ONLY 54.99 INCLUDING FREE FEDEX 2ND DAY SHIPPING AT ZIPZOOMFLY.COM. BEST PRICE! IF YOU NEED THE COMBO OF KEYBOARD AND MOUCE, THIS IS IT, YOU WON'T NEED TO BREAK THE BANK FOR THE LASTEST PRODUCTS.
Superb Customer Service, Great Product December 13, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This combination product works great - just super. Others will tell you about that.
I am here to tell you about customer service. My keyboard went out after I owned the system for 5 months. The rep & I tried to reboot it, this did not work, and WITHIN 3 business days I had a NEW KEYBOARD, MOUSE, and BASE STATION. Standing behind your product does not get better than that.
Scroll Wheel Issue & Programmable Keys December 12, 2004 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've had this keyboard and mouse combo for some time. While I do like being wireless, I've found myself having to switch to the Microsoft model for one reason. The scroll wheel is very useful, but Logitech has designed it with slight clicks, or detents in the wheel. While some claim this is useful for precision, I've found it no help, and actually a problem. After a few weeks, the constant click pulse from the wheel hurts your finger after awhile. Kind of like chinese water torture. At any rate it got so bad that I had to switch to the smooth scrolling mouse from Microsoft, and life is much better. Maybe this is not an issue for others, I'm not normally sensitive to such things, but I thought I'd better convey my experience. If these things don't bother you, then proceed!
Also, the software that maps the extra buttons to useful functions does not work well. I tried all available updates.
Good to go December 3, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just got my keyboard/mouse combo in the mail a few days ago and I have yet to experience any problems. I am using it with my laptop computer as an alternative to the keyboard and mouse that came built into the laptop.
Anyway, it works great. My brother was able to take the keyboard all the way to the other end of the house and then up two flights of stairs and it still typed. Range is not an issue as far as I can tell. The mouse lags when it gets tired, and needs a dark surface to work properly.
Other than that, all is well and I am pleased with my investment.
