Good deal October 11, 2008 I bought this notebook cooler for my HP DV5T (15.4") notebook. I couldn't ask for anything better--considering the price. Several reviews have claimed that this cooler could actually cause a notebook to overheat since many built-in notebook fans draw air up from underneath the laptop and this cooler's fans pull air down from underneath the laptop. Supposedly, this creates a "vacuum" a prevents the note book from being cooled. My notebook draws air from underneath, but the "vacuum" issue doesn't seem to be a problem. I'm sure it would be better if the fans pushed air in the other direction, but the cooler manages to do its job anyway. When gaming, the GPU temperature stays between 70 and 80 C with the cooler on and the bottom exterior of the notebook remains relatively cool. My note book is already slightly raised and the cooler came with rubber bumpers (hard to insert with bare hands, but I pushed them in with tweezers easily) to raise the notebook off the cooler further, without these, if the notebook were in direct contact with the cooler, there might be a problem with a vacuum.
Also, some reviews said the power cable was permanently attached to the notebook and flimsy. They must have redesigned the power cable because now it fully separates and stores in the base when not in use.
The notebook cooler also lets me use my laptop on my lap without scalding my thighs.
On my desk, it raises the notebook about 1" higher.
Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler October 10, 2008 This is without a doubt the best notebook cooler I have ever owned. I have puchased 5 of these and they all can't compare to the antec. This thing keeps my laptop so cool, that the air that comes out of it is cool, not hot. I would recommend this cooler over the more expensive high end ones. Price is very reasonable also. you won't be disappointed.
great product that does its job October 8, 2008 100% satified. It keeps my computer from overheating and is not too noisy. The blue LED light is bright, but you can just cover it with tape or something. Highly recommended.
Does the job very well! October 8, 2008 After much research on this site and E Bay, this seemed to be the best value. I'm pleased with it. I have three of them cooling three laptops, two of which kept going off because of excess heat. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the lack of USB ports which another competing unit has. I had purchased the other unit from Costco for less than this unit cost but they'd sold out when I went back for more! That'll teach me!
Not MacBook Pro Friendly October 7, 2008 I bought this Notebook cooler to help cool down my MacBook Pro which gets pretty hot when playing games on it. Unfortunately this Notebook cooler is Way too small for a MacBook Pro (15.4"). The rubber feet of the MacBook hang off the unit, but what makes it even worse is the Metal of the grate scratches to bottom of the laptop. If you have seen a MacBook Pro it is metallic like to begin with, and metal on metal makes for a lot of scratching....Not Good. The fans worked ok, and yeah the light is too bright in my opinion. A little black electrical tape could fix that though. Overall for my laptop, this unit is no good.
