not woth it August 2, 2005 This lock is not as user friendly as it seams. Worst part is the numeric lock , it is not at all smooth , if the numbers are slightly here and there it will not at all open. Means its even hard to open for a person knowing the number ( password ) , GR8 !!!!!!!!!!!!!. To much secure i will rather recommed one with manual key rather than number lock
Lock meets my needs July 6, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's a nice design...I have only used it once. I don't know how tough it is against a professional thief, but I hope it will be a deterrent. It's pretty compact. It has a retractable cord so it conforms to whereever you use it and then is easy to put away. It's easy to change the combo but you wouldn't want to leave it around where some ambitious child can flip it change it on you. I am considering buying another one for my daughter. I bought the combo style because I know I would loose the keys.
Hard to Use unless you have great instrumental hands... June 11, 2005 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
A great idea but... My fingers find it hard to turn the little numbers around. It also has an odd lever on the back that is hard to figure out what it does and when to use it. Yes I've read the directions but it is still confusing. Sometimes I'm not sure whether I've really locked it or not! The 4' cord is short in my experience so I can't hook around the center leg of all the tables I sit at. You had better sit at a small table top or at a table having an outer or end leg.
If you don't mind fussing around with things this is probably a great lock. Physical construction is excellent. I find that Kensington products are consistently better made than other manufacturer's products and this is not an exception.
Ultimately I find that I can't remember all the tricks needed to get it to work so I don't use it. I'll be switching to a key based lock and carry a wire cutter in my car in case I loose the key... of course if I loose the laptop lock key then I will have also lost my key chain which carries it and my car keys....
