5 out of 5 stars Great Sound at a Great Price!   February 24, 2008
Ok, so I went to Bose and plugged my laptop into their $[...] speakers and wasn't very impressed. Apparently, the computer they have powering speakers is outputing better sound. So, after checking out www.apple.com for speakers, I bought these Creative speakers for less than $[...] with shipping. ....and, I love them! They sound great, they have separate treble and bass adjustments, and they are aren't huge in size. Granted, they don't have a separate remote like the Bose product but I don't think a $[...] difference is enough to justify the lack of a remote.

I was tempted to buy the T40(?) version of the Creative speakers but decided against due to the extra height they take up.

And, yes, per one of the reviewers, the blue light is a bit harsh. It is small, but just sharply bright.

These are great speakers!

4 out of 5 stars Excellent set of speakers   February 16, 2008

Great sounding, well built set of desktop speakers. I have 2 sets of Bose Companion 2 speakers and these Creative units have it all over the Bose units for the same money.

The T20s have a a robust, overbuilt feel w/a techy look. Can't say that for the Bose units. One speaker has power on/off/volume along w/seperate bass and treble controls. The bass and treble controls do not have a lot of sound shaping capability but if you use Winamp or Windows Media player for example w/their built in equalisers, this is no problem.

Depending on how clean of a signal you feed these speakers, they are capable of playing very loud w/o degradation of sound quality.

I do not play computer games so I can not say how these speakers would perform under gaming situations however the sound quality is excellent when watching a given DVD under (now archaic but not DEAD YET!!) 2 channel stereo conditions. I use these units for mostly music and the performance is A plus.

2 nits---the blue power on indicator light is TOOOOOOOO bright and the bass port is located ON TOP of each speaker housing. Nothing but a dust trap and who knows what else, over time. These nits are the reasons I gave em a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star rating. No reason however to not purchase these units.

Excellent of speakers nonetheless.

These sound about as good as any cheap (under $100) 2.1 speaker systems, sans the "thumpy" bass that you get with a subwoofer. If you like balanced lows, mids, and highs, these are the speakers for you. They sound better the louder you turn them up, so crank up the volume and let everyone marvel over your speakers...

5 out of 5 stars Rich Sound, Small Footprint, Low Price   February 1, 2008

I've wanted to get away from 3 piece systems due to the inevitable static problems the sub-woofer causes and the additional wiring etc. So I was looking for a high quality 2 piece 2way powered system and was considering the Bose Companion 2, Klipsh ProMedia and the Creative T20. Listening at stores, I found all three to be quite nice but when I I walked into an Office Depot and saw the T20 on a clearance table for $25 that sealed the deal.

Now that I've been using them at home I have to say the sound is wonderful. Granted, these are no match for traditional units like my Paradigm Studio Monitors but for use with my laptop or Ipod they sound great. Volume is more than adequate for the intended use, the dynamic range is full with nice bass and a lack of shrill high end.

I would be just as pleased if I'd paid the full $100 for these speakers.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad   January 29, 2008
Good speakers, great sound, really lively. You feel voice coming from them as if the singer was next to you. Only problem as some have said, once you connect your headphones to them, the sound is very low. You would have to crank up the volume all the way basically. I really like the AUX IN function, lets me connect my XBOX 360 sound to them, w/o a need to use my PC, I use 360 through my monitor. So besides that minor flaw with headphones, not a bad product at all.
