Creative's GigaWorks T20 2.0 Speakers - Efficient and Sleek November 28, 2007 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Creative's GigaWorks T20 2.0 speakers are efficient, well designed and powerful. While they are a toss up with the Klipsh Promedia 2.0 set, they have enough going for them to make a case. Klipsch ProMedia Ultra 2.0 PC Speaker System- Black Ultimately, I would recommend test driving both. I like the Creative T20's overall performance and design.
Pros + Nice looks and high quality cables + Extra cable + Nice adapter for RCA inputs (TV, receiver, etc.) + Decent low-end range and base with above average mid-range + Nice more sturdy housing with good controls
Cons: - Only average high-range sound - Bass XPorts on top will collect dust - Creative reputation is not stellar - Cost is near the Klipsch Promedia set
Creative Gigaworks T20 have nice power with 28 watts and active speaker amplification. The cone drivers and tweeters are excellent, and the Bass Xport delivers nice thump. The bass is clearly not subwoofer equivalent, but nice for a 2.0 set. The sound is rich and clear and can be adjusted via the front knobs. Separate bass and treble knobs allow control if you know how to use them.
These speakers also simply look good. Each speaker is about 9" tall by 3" wide, allowing you to fit them easily around any workstation.
The bass ports on top require you to clean out the holes to avoid dust build-up. And Creative's reputation is also a concern, though I have had no problems myself with these. Still, Klipsch is not immune to reputation concerns either.
If you need real low-end depth, a subwoofer that comes in a 2.1 set is probably the minimum that will satisfy you. Likewise, if you are a gamer or an audio sound editor, you really should be looking at 5.1 sets.
For all other users looking for good quality in a smaller simpler set, this is worth a look. If you are a fan of Klipsh, compare these to the Promedias and make up your own mind. Enjoy.
Great bang for the buc! October 24, 2007 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love the sounds coming from it. It can go high and deep. It is not too big. It matches with my black dell pc. They are a nice pair of speakers.
superior sound and definition that fills a room October 14, 2007 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
i've had these for about a month now. they've transformed my laptop music listening experience. melodies that used to be so drab and flat have become omnipresent and multi-dimensional. they're plenty loud and the bass is definitely palpable and sufficient. i chose these over the klipsch promedias and i haven't had a second thought about the decision. i would not be embarrassed to throw an impromptu apartment dance party with these speakers. they get the energy across.
Very clean design, Excellent Sound and plenty of inputs October 11, 2007 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Creative did a good job on the design of the T20 speaker system. One of the first things I noticed as I took them out of the box is the robust power supply that comes with the speakers. Not the standard little cheap calculator supply, but a heavy duty one that looks like it will last a long time. Next thing, cables and again, good ones and not the cheap ones that pick up interference from almost anything around. You get a short 1/8' inch cable that I used for my iTouch, a heavier and longer cable that I used for my laptop and also they are thoughful enough to include an adapter if you want to use TV RCA inputs. So before I had it even connected, I was impressed. Turning it on I was pleasently surprised to find that at low volumes it was very faithful in reproducing sound ranging from classicial to rock which is something I find many of the lower cost speakers are not good at. Cranking up the volume to half way and no distortion even with the bass all the way up or the treble. These are not "heavy thumper" speakers, but good clean speakers that can give you a decent room full of audio. I ended up buying a second set, one for my laptop and the second for my iPod iTouch and find them to be a excellent set of speakers. Good deal for the money. Yes the Blue LED is bright. If you have it next your laptop, it might be a little distracting at times. During the day, it never bothered me, at night, it was a little bright. Minor issue.
Affordability vs Performace Equals 4-1/2 Stars! October 11, 2007 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
The Creative Labs 2.0 GigaWorks T-20 two speaker system is a beautiful thing! Why?, because they sound very very good and are economically priced so no need to break into your son's piggy bank. Before I go too far, there are better sounding, base thumping, MORE EXPENSIVE 2.1, 5.1 and 7.1 systems. However, the T-20's are perfect for a home office setup and will fill the room with good highs, excellent midrange and an adequate base. They are solidly built, look good and suit my needs. They have very good separation, especially at lower to moderate volume. Gigaworks is Creative Labs flagship 'highest quality' brand. Other reviews have said these are the best 2.0 desktop speakers available. They certainly are in the top two. (Klipsch ProMedia 2.0 being the other which have a tad more base at higher volume). If you have the room and need even more base try Logitech's Z-2300 2.1 system. They are rated ***** excellent, affordable but have been around for four years. They might need a makeover. Anyway the T20's deliver for most music (not rap), DVD movies and all my audio needs. Remember if you need to balance good sound with affordability try these higher quality guys and you be happy.
