Zen and the art of consumer electronics June 18, 2007 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
I'm usually skeptical about buying Creative products because of past experience with "seemingly short" support cycles. Regardless, I caved and purchased the Zen as a low-cost alternative to the iPod shuffle. I've only had it for a handful of days, but here's my first impression:
Pros: - Sound is really great! - Intuitive buttons allows choosing without looking. - Small, cute, light and seems durable. - No software needed to load music (HUGE PLUS! - acts like a flash drive) - "Tell All" LED negates the need for an LCD readout.
Cons: - No clip, but you get one if you shell out for the skin accessory. - Control buttons could offer a bit more tactile feedback.
This is a perfect little gem for the gym! I'm very happy with it so far!
Great for beginners or as a backup player :) June 16, 2007 3 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a great little player. It's not feature-rich, but if you're buying a player to work out with or you're not really technically oriented, the Zen Stone will blow you away.
It's attractive, feels good, and the controls are in easy reach for any sized hand. Also unlike many players, this one you can load by drag and drop and you can rename or delete just as easily. Or you can get the free software for your computer from Creative, and not only use it to manage your Zen Stone, but also use it to rip your CDs to it.
It charges in your USB port or you can buy an adapter, the headphones sound pretty darn good and it's easy enough for kids or first-time MP3 player users. And you sure can't beat the price. This thing is cheap enough to be an impulse buy, yet good enough to be very much appreciated as a gift.
awesome back up player June 12, 2007 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
This little thing is awesome!I been wanting a back up player for my Creative Zen Vision M because at times it just felt like overkill to lug around with me (man the times are a changing, I remember dragging around a walkman tape player, and a huge case of cassettes to school all the time back in the day!) Anyways this thing is tiny, maybe it's a little larger than a ipod shuffle but really if this thing was much smaller I think it would be hard to operate, and it's still so small you can lose it in your pockets as is. The design is great I just wish the outside was a little more scratch proof. Mine has light scratches on it just from carrying in in my pockets for a few days. The headphones that are packed in are pretty nice. Maybe a bit this on bass but what do you want for free? I was concerned 1 GB wasn't going to be enough with over 12,000 songs on my computer but in reality I fit about 300 of my favorites on here. I'm still trying to figure out the folder options but once I get them re-organized it will be fine. It's actually cool because you can play songs stright off the player on another computer (I think) and the stone acts as a hard drive. My only real problems have been the outside scratches easily and I think the accessories cost a bit much for my taste. I'm sure they will come down eventually though. I'd recomend this little guy to anybody
Awesome Player June 12, 2007 3 out of 8 found this review helpful
Of course, this player's head-turning feature was the price. Half the cost of the iPod Shuffle, and actually looks good? Of course I want one.
I have gone to sleep with the headphones on and woken up to the player still chugging strong. It's small and light, but very durable... even during my tossing and turning all night it didn't crush it. I can see this being extremely useful when I go skiing this winter. I'd much rather take the chance of scratching the Stone than my $300 iPod!
Great Little Player June 5, 2007 17 out of 23 found this review helpful
I bought the Stone to supplement my 60 gig Ipod. This is great to take on long walks or jogs or anyplace you just want some specific music/words but don't want to carry the larger player. I also bought some accessories so this player is very easy to carry around. You can clip it to your pocket or get the key chain holder or the arm band holder. The sound is great and it's very easy to add and remove songs. This is truly great for active people who don't want to carry their full featured player around at certain times.
