Great Quality For A Small Price Tag. April 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This little mp 3 player works great. The volume controls allow the music to be played loud or soft. I couldn't believe the awesome sound quality. The thing is really light weight. The creative medialite software allows you to customize three different folders to seperate music files into different categories. The software can be downloaded to your computer from CREATIVE after registering your mp3 player. It has a few drawbacks, like it has no digital screen to see which of your soundtracks are being played, the running time or how much of the battery life you have left. Battery life is measured by a flashing light on the front of the player. Also, it only has 1 GB of memory. For about twenty dollars more, you can have 2 GB of memory, a digital crystal screen, an equalizer, a voice recorder, etc. in the same size with The Zen Stone Plus.
It suits my purpose March 26, 2008 I wanted a music player that was inexpensive and that I could wear while exercising (gym, running, spinning)or working in the yard. This little guy holds about 10 hrs of music (so far I have about 6 hrs of my stuff on it). The software is very easy to use. It's easy to add, delete or make changes. You have to use your computer to charge it but that is no big deal for me. The earbuds that come with it are useless. I knew that from reading reviews so I bought Philips SHE2650/37 earbuds for about 8 bucks and they work very well. Also, the battery discharges more rapidly than advertised, at least that is my experience. So that and the earbuds are the reasons I only gave 4 stars. I also bought the arm band which is very good but at $15 almost half the price of the player. You need to decide if it is worth it to you. Overall it is great for the purpose I described.
great MP3 player March 18, 2008 I love this MP3 player! It is really cool. It fits in my pocket and doesn't fall out. It holds all my favorite tunes with room left over and has great sound clarity. A must have for the music lover on the go.
best bang for the buck March 12, 2008 Awesome mp3 player. Have had it since August 07 and it still rocks. Tiny size, a piece of cake to charge, absolutely easy to move mp3s into it as opposed to being FORCED to use itunes, etc. overall - a cheap, reliable and most of all quality product. i fill it with songs, connect it to my cars "auxillary audio input" jack and i now have like 240 songs to listen to. i haven't burned a CD in ages! =P
i am by a computer all the time so charging via usb is no problem. and also - when you copy songs over - obviously it's via usb so i dont really see why people are complaining that they can only charge via usb. if anything, that's a plus!
i have never had a time when the unit has died on me! i charge it / copy songs to it roughly every 3 or 4 days and use it for about a couple of hours each day and have not had the battery die on me. i dont know why people expect like 20 hours battery life of this little thing. 6 hours is good enough unless you're traveling to the middle of a third world country and there isn't a computer around for miles... :: rolling eyes :: if 7-8 hour battery life is too short, go and spend $300 on an ipod.
anyway, i bought another one of these recently for a family member and they've been loving it since. seriously this is the best value for the dollar.
What a great way to get into MP3 March 8, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This item is a great way to get into MP3. I am a late adopter, but when I began to look for a first, basic MP3 player, I made the mistake of buying a nice-looking, slim 2GB Brando unit that could not be recognized by my computer (or any of the others I tried it on). Money wasted!
On the second attempt I researched available basic units and decided on the 1GB Zen Stone. This was a great choice. With the Creative Media Lite software it is so easy to load with music files. Right out of the box you can be loading the memory and simultaneously charging the battery. You should first go to the Creative website to be able to download the latest version of the software and firmware. Updates are probably available and will enhance the performance of the unit.
Now that I have this 1GB capacity I will use it for a while to get the hang of listining to music like this, and then probably pass the Stone onto someone else and get a larger Creative product with a screen.
Update: I've had the Zen Stone (1GB) for about a week now, and still like it, but the battery life looks to be shorter than what I expected. I might knock it down a star for that. I do travel around the Third World, sometimes with no access to a computer for recharging. Looking into whether I can use the charger that came with the Brando POS (see above); maybe still recover something from that bad investment.
