Great Product August 11, 2008 This is such a great product!! I use it a lot, and the first time i used it, my computer recognized it near instantly!! I love it. The strap is handy too in my opinion.
USB Adapter - Good July 31, 2008 I bought this because my laptop does not have a SD slot. So far, it has been great. It is easy to use. Just pop the card into the USB reader then insert into a USB port. My system auto mounts the card and automatically asks if I want to copy any photos to my hard drive.
I am using Ubuntu 8.04 on an IBM T61.
Does not work with 16GB SDHC Card July 31, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this reader to use with several SD and microSD cards that I have, and I am sorry to say that despite claims of SDHC compliance, this device does not work with the A-DATA 16 GB SDHC card (it says "Eee PC edition") that I have and use most often with my Canon digital camera.
The reader seems to work with 1 GB SD (and microSD) cards, so I will keep it, but for something like that, I'd rather have paid $5 (the going rate for non-SDHC-compliant readers), not the overpriced > $10.
I am thoroughly disappointed at Kingston for this flop.
Small card reader scores well July 31, 2008 Mobilelite USB 2.0 9-IN-1 Read This little reader works very well. It is easy to insert and remove cards from the various reading slots in the reader. My computer has recognized the device immediately each time it has been inserted into a USB 2.0 port regardless of whether the ports were built-in or in a hub.
Considering the unit's size and low price, it is made pretty well. Each slot has its own slider to make card removal a simple task. Each white side of the reader is a little swing door to provide access to card slots. The very small plastic catch for one of the doors broke off very quickly despite gentle handling. However, the benefit of this is that the door tends to hold itself open so it is easy to quickly determine which side has the slot I want at any given time. While it would be nice to have the sides labeled by the factory to indicate which slot is where, anyone could make such a label with any of the inexpensive label makers currently on the market.
While the instructions were virtually useless, the device is pretty simple - probably anyone able to figure out how to use anything that stores info on memory cards can also figure out how to use the reader.
It is great that the reader comes with a cap and a nicely made tether cord (very small, but completely ample for its purpose). While it was a bit tedious to attach the tiny split ring to the cap, it was totally worth it to me. Those caps can so easily be misplaced if not tethered that it has become a pet peeve.
All in all, a nicely designed, fully funtional card reader at a very reasonable price.
Works Fine July 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've purchased a lot of memory from Kingston (RAM modules and flash memory) and have never been disappointed. The RAM sticks outlasted my computers, and I am currently using Kingston in my current rig. This is the first card reader I've used from them but so far, so good. It is so easy and convenient to use. Initially the lift-tab concealing the SD reader was a little hard to open but now it works fine. The card goes in easily and the plastic ejector does the job properly. Windows XP recognized it and installed it right away. I would purchase this again; it comes in very handy.
