| Customer Reviews:
Nice picture September 20, 2008 I love this cam. I previously had an old gray Quickcam (YEARS ago, before they gave them model numbers I think).
The good news-- it looks very sharp, and can do full-motion video capture at 720p.
What you need to know-- You'll need a computer thats capable enough for the higher resolutions. I was using it on a AMD X2 4400+, 2gb ram, and a Geforce 7600GT pci-express.
Next-- i understand that it comes with an auto-light gain feature, and doesn't require a bright lightsource to display a good picture. This is true. BUT with it on, I saw bad motion blurring, kind of like a bad LCD. Maybe this would go away with a faster processor, but I recommend keeping the room lights on. The Carl Zeis Lens does a great job of receiving the light itself without any processing magic.
One possible cause of this blurring -- Auto-light gain continuously updates itself. Its constantly sampling room light and making adjustments.
Another note- Its a wider angled lens. So if you webcam (youtube?) it won't look like you're zoomed up close. You'll see everything. You'll see the walls/windows on the side of the room, and more of your upper torso. This is pretty neat, especially at the higher resolutions. If you want a zoomed-in face only shot, you can 1) move REAL close to the camera or 2) use the zoom feature.
Just so you know, the zoom feature is digital zoom. You won't see any extra detail, and if you zoom in all the way, you'll see pixels.
Bottom line-- turn auto-gain off and turn the lights on. Better performance with faster computer. You'll be wowed by the clarity and color.
Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 September 20, 2008 I've had it for over a month now and I have no major complaints with the camera itself. You'll need to play with the lighting to get the best quality and movement but other then that it works great. I would definitely recommend it.
Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 September 20, 2008 September 20, 2008 This product is more than I expected. The last time I tried one of these web cams was some years ago and I threw it away. It was jerky and did keep you lips and motion in sync. HOWEVER...the Pro 9000 is state of the art in my opinon. Other friends tell me the picture I send is very clear and crisp! We all love it them as several of us got them together because we knew what we were getting after the first one had been put to use. I checked pricing everywhere with competitors and NO ONE could match Amazon's price point. JP
Best product September 19, 2008 I have been using this product for over a month and i am very happy with it. The clarity of the video and still pictures are very good. The only drawback i faced so far is transmission time. Because of the high resolution, it is taking more time for tranmission when we do a video chatting. It is easy to install and use. I love the product
Like Watching TV September 19, 2008 The webcam came within days. Easy to install and use. It is almost like watching TV. I showed it to my boss and we now have 2 that we use for videoconferencing. The $30 camera's do not compare to the quality.
