No more Turbo Tax February 19, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've used Turbo Tax for the past few years. When I lived in Minnesota it was free to file both fed and state. Then I moved to Colorado last year, mistake #1. To e-file fed was still free but it was $10 for state...okay, that's not bad. This year to e-file Turbo Tax wanted $30 for both!! Whatever happened to lower income e-filing for free?! Sorry, Turbo Tax, you changed what use to be a good thing. Now you've lost a customer.
Features are there, in spite of what Intuit implies February 14, 2008 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
I bought TTAX Basic and installed it. It has all of the usual forms and interviews to support them. The Intuit web site lists all of the forms included. I even found Schedule C in there, even though several people have reported it missing (perhaps in was added back in the latest downloads?).
Confusion reigns because of the way Intuit seems to want to push people to higher cost products. There is extra help in higher cost products, and maybe some extra features (Deduction Finder or Cost Basis Lookup). If you don't need those things, TTAX Basic works fine.
My return includes 1040, Schedules A, B, C-EZ, D, SE and all of the forms required for IRA contributions and rollovers, and annualization forms for estimated tax penalty calculations, plus many, many forms I don't need.
Take a look at the online version of Basic (no need to pay anything or even register if you won't be saving your work) to verify that everything you need is really there.
The problem isn't that TTAX has lost features. It's that Intuit's guides to which version to use IMPLIES that did if you don't read closely enough.
A happy customer February 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used Turbo Tax for many years. I've seen it evolve each year to a better product. It is easy to use, very informative, and very accurate. Just be sure to get the updates on line before you use it. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Turbo Tax Rocks! February 13, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product was excellent! Super easy to use, took about 15 minutes to do my taxes, one week later I got a direct deposit.
2007 TurboTax Review February 13, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The product itself is a good one. The reason for the 4 rating is that I found later that it could be purchased for less at Wal-Mart. Additionally, it doesn't come with State and it couldn't be determined in the web ad what this would cost to download once the product was obtained. It didn't seem right to have to buy TurboTax Deluxe in order to get state. TurboTax Deluxe has features that I don't use and don't want. It was a mistake not to buy that though, as Intuit, the TurboTax maker's company, charges $35 to download state if you purchase TurboTax basic. That's a real rip off!
