4 out of 5 stars Nancy Drew Treasure in the Royal Tower   October 20, 2006

When a blizzard ruins your vacation, you are stuck in Wickford Castle in Wisconsin. But you don't get to relax much on that trip, because another mystery turns up! The castle holds many passageways, conataining many historical artifacts. Marie Antoinette may even have hid her famous diamond somewhere in the Royal Tower...

This game was a ton of fun! The puzzles were not so easy, but not too hard either. The plot was wonderful and mysterious at the same time. It was not the best Nancy Drew Game I've played, but it was definitely worth playing.

I thought that this game was totally awesome! I really enjoyed it! I played it in 4 days, and it usually takes me much longer! It wasn't too hard, but hard enough. It's not as scary as some of the Nancy Drew games. There are four charactors: Sally McDonald (the lady who asked you to come there), Red Knott (a birdwatcher), Emily Griffen (a lady who owns a store), and Jeff Akers (the closest thing to a police officer that the town has). You never meet Sally, but you meet the other three. Oh, yes. I forgot you meet the ghost dogs...

2 out of 5 stars Not the best Nancy Drew....   August 26, 2006

I am generally a big fan of the Nancy Drew games - I love adventure games and found that Nancy Drew games are not just for kids. However, I really was not thrilled with this one - the tasks and puzzles seem to be WAY too drawn out. After a while it seemed like such a chore to get thru a task. Even consulting a walkthrough, I got bored real quick - and got to a point where I just could not sit thru it anymore. The only other game I've stopped playing in the middle of it was "Journey to the Center of the Earth".

I thought Message in the Haunted Mansion was far more fun.

3 out of 5 stars Danger on Deception Island   August 21, 2006
At last! Nancy gets to relax while staying with George's friend, Katie Firestone,(a marine biologist) on her boat in Snake Horse Harbor. Hmm, the mystery is - what? It seems that a mysterius orca has showed up- where is she from? Katie seems to be getting on everyone's nerves-she's the only one alowed to go near it! That must hurt Andy Jason's buisness! He gives whale watching tours- but he can't get near the whale! Holt Scotto is a fisherman-and he's losing mmoney becasue he can't fish near the whale! Jenna Deblin just doesn't like Katie-she thinks the whale should just be left alone! You have a cellphone and can call Bess and George, the HArdy Boys, and various people whose phone numbers you pick up later. You ride a bike to get to places-if you don't wear your helmet, watch out! Don't worry, Nancy just clicks on where she wants to go and you're there. (Not like in the Secret of the Old Clock, which was annoying.) I have to say, though, that this game isn't as fun as the others. It just seems like there isn't much to do! Theh hardest part was the end. I liked digging for clams, but it got old after a while. Too many secret passages (the one in the cafe I got lost in a lot of times, believe me) and the puzzles you had to do for the old lady (who you can only talk to by phone, you don't actually meet her)? Bor-ing! It seems like whenever you were getting somewhere, there was another hard, boring puzzles you had to solve. I guess the first time I played it, I liked it- but it's not one of the Nancy Drew Games that you want to play over and over again. Nice idea- but it doesn't seem like a good setting for a mystery, besides it being cold and foggy. The good part is, you'll be kept guessing who the culpirit is- I had no idea!
Characters:6-7 They weren't all that interesting, in my opinion! It wasn't evident what part they played in the mystery! Besides being mad at Katie Firestone for various reasons, they didn't do all that much!
Graphics: 8 Not bad, though definatley not as good as the newest games. As always, the settings were more realistic than the characters. The water and islands were very realistic. At least it was all 3-D.
Mystery: 6 Not a great mystery. Everyone is mad at Katie Firestone because her being near the whale hurts all their buisneses in some way. So, someone vandilizes Katie's boat. And what's with the new orca? Seems it doesn't belong to a pod. Ho-hum.
Gameplay: 7 Not too bad. Takes about 2 weeks to finish, playing about 2 hours per day. Maybe a week and a half. Depends on your skill. I loved kayaking- unfortunatley, it's hard to see where you are going and often you go around in circles. Plus the GPS was SO annoying! It takes forever to put in the coordinates and then go to them! "OK, on arrow oforward and we're there- no! Wait! What happened? OK, go back one- no! I mean, U-turn! No! Wait! What? Oh, are we there? Hey- wha- no, you idiot! We're back at the boat!" sigh. You get the idea.
Worth your money? If you like puzzles and oceans, this game is for you. If you'd rather keep your feet on the ground-don't buy this.
