4 out of 5 stars Good Family Games   February 8, 2008

I was looking for video games that my younger children could play. My five and three year-old always want to play the Game Cube games but they require too much coordination with the controllers. I got this hoping that it would be simpler. It is a little, but not quite simple enough. Interestingly, my teenage boys (17 and 14) are now playing this instead of their Game Cube games.

4 out of 5 stars Back in the day!   January 14, 2008
Ok...so its a great idea, I dont understand why it caused my computer screen to stay so large?! Any clues? On the other hand its nice to play the games from back in the day...

If you grew up in the '70s, like I did, and spent too much time, and too much money in the arcades, then you can't go wrong with this! For less than a Starbuck's cappucino, you get 18 of Atari's CLASSIC arcade games. And when I say ARCADE, I mean the EXACT SAME GAMES you pumped SO MANY quarters into!

Asteroids
Asteroids Deluxe
Battlezone
Black Widow
Centipede
Millipede
Crystal Castle
Gravitar
Lunar Lander
Missile Command
Major Havoc
Liberator
Red Baron
Space Duel
Super Breakout
Tempest
Warlords
Pong

Those games alone are worth the price of admission, to me anyway. And infinitely more fun to waste time with than Solitaire, (talk about LAME!) The other 62+ games look to be mostly ports of old Atari 2600 games, which ARE sort of lame, even by 1980's standards. But I've spent a few hours (re-living my childhood) playing those as well.
If you're looking for cutting edge, 3D graphics, state-of-the-art video games, move on. But if you're looking for a cheap fun trip down memory lane, then you can't go wrong here.
Don't get me wrong, I love my 3D graphics card, but these games re-kindle that old visceral excitement, and instant gratification that has somehow been lost in today's world of "everything's-gotta-be-3D-or-else-it-sucks" gaming paradigm.
Regards,
Classic Fanatic

Wow. I can't believe you waited 30+ days - I'm living in Russia and got this on leave. Lots of fun, bides away the long winter nights. Cool because I grew up on these games. Easy install, easy play, just a lot of fun. Recommended -

5 out of 5 stars These games are great   March 9, 2007

Im not sure the other reviews quite sum this game up. The graphics are not terrible, there is no bundled spyware (PestPatrol does not know what they are talking about as it is and is an oversensitive spyware scanner) and is absolutely fun to play. The reason why one of the reviewers says "bad graphics" is because they did not take the time to go into the control panel for each game and select the "Enhanced Graphics" option to make them more like the original arcade classics. The game also includes desktop themes for users of Windows 98 and ME, and may or may not work on Windows 2000. They also took the time to create sort of a history mode that shows original sales material, original box art and manuals, and other promotional stuff that helped Atari sell their wares back in the old days. Even includes video interviews with the creator of Pong Nolan Bushnell. Oh... and yes... you can even use the Atari 2600 Roms from the Roms folder and use them with a third party Atari 2600 Emulator! Way Cool!

Overall a wonderful value and a great collection of Atari Games. I highly recommend this to people who want to relive their childhood days of Atari.
