Vegas Studio 8 Platinum January 7, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
A very advanced video editor and DVD authoring suite, but with some limitations. I never could figure a way to output standard MPEG 2 16:9 with audio that wasn't letterboxed. Sony seems to think that the editor will only be used with DVD Architect so outputs are limited. Very little control over quality of final output like bitrate in the editor although there seems to be better controls for this in DVDA. Doesn't help if you aren't creating a disc.
Frustrating January 2, 2008 I'm a long time Vegas user (used the pro version since 3.0) but switched over to the more consumer oriented version "Movie Studio" when I found it did 99% of the things I needed. Bad decision, editing HDV on this and past versions of Movie Studio is an exercise in frustration. The program has crashed on me more times than I can count due to the way Vegas handles drops in the HDV mpeg2 stream. The question is why. The latest version of Pro actually handles these without issue. Other programs such as those from Ulead can actually handle them as well. I love the editor but may have to switch to a competitive product in order to keep my sanity.
Vegas software is great stuff! December 31, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to use this software. I received the item two days earlier than expected, so I was able to get my project done very quickly. I love having so many different tracks on which to place pictures, video, voices, music, etc. The software is user friendly. Since I was already used to Sony Screenblast, the transition to Vegas was easy. The transitions between pictures were innovative, so the project turned out great!
Not compatible with Camcorder December 21, 2007 9 out of 13 found this review helpful
I can not get my Sony editing program to talk to my $ 1,200.00 Sony HD HDR-SR7 camcorder. I also find it impossible to talk to a human being about the problem. I have done much editing with Pinnacle programs in the past but trying to read the instructions for Vegas Movie Studio 8 is like trying to understand Lower Slabovian.....
Bye Bye Pinnacle December 9, 2007 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I had so much trouble with Pinnacle: Sound not in sync-- transition between scenes hanged--worked with technical support to no avail. Tried this new Sony product and all those issues are resolved--as easy to use, great built in tutorials. Awesome and flawless all the way around. I use a Sony Camera with 30 GB HDD--Pinnacle always "captured" okay when I used digital tape but couldn't handle the HDD--The Sony Movie Studio handles it just perfect.
