Got it for video but audio and photo are just as good July 23, 2008 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
My first try with Roxio easy media was version 9 with the Dazzle video converter. The bundle gave me a method of turning all my tapes into digital media. I waited a bit for the price drop of 10 since 9 wasn't that old and I'm astounded at how different, yet similar it is. At first glance 10 doesn't look very different than 9 but there are now a bunch of new things that make it a different enough program. Video with Videowave and cinemagic: each program has a few more options from 9. The biggest change I found was the soundtrack. It is now much easier to do. It also edits HD video. None too soon considering tv broadcast changes. Music: Biggest changes here. It makes batch formatting changes and rips disks from several drives at once. The automix is more elaborate. Photo: It makes autofixes. If I don't like the results I can use the manual setting changes. More album adn slideshow formats. Gadgets: This is new and makes the program a step above others. I can take any media file and convert it to my phone and ipod. It works the other way by sending media to the pc from the gadgets. Disk burning: Burning is relatively the same but complementary tools are better. It catalogs the disk contents, something I felt was needed in 9. I see that it can copy HD and blueray disks, but I don't have the proper burners yet to test. For anyone wanting to convert tapes I would recommend this program, regardless of what converter you have. I don't see any need for any side programs to finish media projects.
Don't Buy OEM Versions July 22, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I recently upgraded to a Vista operating system and several of my old computer applications would no longer install, much less work on the new operating system. I purchased Creator 10 as an OEM product, but was disappointed with the CD version of a DVD disk. Several important parts of the program did not work because they were not included in the reduced price and size disk. It was worth the additional thirty dollars to get the full version rather than the cheaper but disappointing OEM.
Roxio Easy Media Creator Suite 10 July 21, 2008 This program is extremely hard to use for creating slideshows. I have not been able to change background music, and Roxio has not given me any solutions that work.
Roxio has regressed July 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 is not user friendly and cannot be used as easily as the EMC 7. The software geeks ruined a good program when the upgraded to this. I would not recommend it, Roxio will lose the support of their past patrons with this program.
Good functionality, a bit clunky July 17, 2008 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I received this shortly after upgrading to a Vista-capable laptop. I've had no problems with the software. It burns DVDs and CDs well, but not necessarily better than the software that was resident on my laptop in the first place. So, I give it credit for that, but can't necessarily recommend it just for that.
The video and audio clean-up features are interesting -- I have a Flip video camera, and this has enabled me to produce a few more polished productions that might have been possible before.
I really like the DVD Music Album feature -- perhaps there are other software packages out there and perhaps I am behind the times, but I wasn't aware of this kind of feature before using Creator 10. I have been able to put all of the work of particular artists onto one disc for handy use; for example, all of the Tallis Scholars work (which spans dozens of disks) or all of the Depeche Mode or Pet Shop Boys works (yes, I am a child of the 80's!) on one disc is very convenient and useful.
Roxio was already the software I was used to, so there was not a significant lead time toward understanding the navigation or features from a functional level -- things operated fairly intuitively.
I am happy with this software. I look forward as the need arises to explore the other functions.
