MEETS MY NEEDS: AMAZON IS A GREAT PLACE TO SHOP! February 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The reason I purchased this was because my Nero 6 version failed. My PC is a five year old Dell 2350, MS XP, with 1 gig of RAM and a 60 gig Hard Drive. I only installed five of the Ultra 8 applications, mostly for transcoding files and making DVDs. In a nutshell, I found the Nero Ultra 8 Version to be almost identical to the Nero 6 version that I own. I found it to be a little sluggish in operation and to have a poor selection of templates. I emailed Nero about using my favorite Nero 6 templates with this program and never got a response. Don't get me wrong, Ultra 8 is a good product, it does everything it says it will do to meet my needs; I just preferred Nero 6. The installation was a breeze and the following steps will assist in a clean installation: delete any older version of Nero, download the Nero Cleaning Tool and use it, run the Disk Cleanup and Defrag Utilities, turn off all anti-virus and spy-ware protection when installing the program. Cheers!
do not purchase February 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading the instructions on how to install this product. I faithfully followed the instructions, not wanting a poor installation. After installing, my brand new computer (vista operating system)locked up when restarted. I tried this twice. No good. It took forever to install and forever to uninstall. I have used prior versions of nero and was quite satisfied. What happened? Has nero gone to the dogs? I am very sorry I purchased it.
This product is a disaster February 8, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
After installing Nero v 8.2.8.0 (the latest), my computer became very slow. Operations that normally worked fine like dragging windows or using the Explorer became "stuttery." That is, as I dragged a window to enlarge it, it would freeze for a second, then resume. Music file playback in other applications became choppy and broken-up. All this occurred even when the Nero application was not running. I found that a process called "Scout" was running that was consuming over 25% of the CPU. Scout comes with Nero and apparently continuously scans or indexes the contents of your disk drive. I also found that the network was continually being accessed. I uninstalled Nero and everything went back to normal. This is terrible behavior for package that I only need in order to burn data CDs and DVDs ! I'm going back to freeware 'ImgBurn', I guess.
disappointed February 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was never able to get my computer - actually 2 different computers- to "see" the program, so I sent it to my son to see if it would work for him.

Not what I needed, misleading January 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this item beleiving it could be used on my machine with Vista. It does not work with Vista. This seller sent out a product that worked only with XP and below. The advertisement for the product should have been far more clear on this point.
