Nero 8 offers all the same benefits as the past ones except you don't have to pay to get the extras. Nero 8 is Windows Vista compatible, that's what I have. This programs has the ability to back up your movies, music, and your system. That's not all you get to do. It has a mixer to make your own DJ scratches, you can convert audio files, edit your photos, make your own videos and there is just so much more you can do. Since I have got Nero 8 I haven't used the installed program that origianlly came with my computer. It's a good product.

I think I had version 5. I tried 8, was so disappointed at how huge, clunky and complicated it was, actually went back to Nero's site and downloaded a v 7. Not really better. "Bloated" is too kind a word.
Also, I have been having screen-freezing, computer-crashing problems ever since I tried v 8. I cannot say for sure that it's Nero's fault -- if it's cured once I get all traces of Nero deinstalled (hope that's possible!) then I'll have a very strong suspicion, anyway.
Thanks a lot fer nuthin, Nero developers! Will try some entirely different product.

I purchased the software at a retail store. I had problems,e-mailed their tech support and worked with them. Due to nature of the "Fix", had to download the software. Had to Pay for the download.
Since Download not needed because I already owned the software, spent months truing to get a refund, all to no avail. Company refused refund due to it being a download. They fought this every way they could, and I ended up "Out" the $81+.
Really good companies like Corel do not have problems like this.
My opinion, DO NOT DO Business with this company. This is the first and only problem I ever had with a company doing business on the internet, and I purchase almost everything on the internet. STAY AWAY........

This is my first time purchasing a Nero product and I have to admit that I'm not sure if I will again. The software is good and it does have a lot of options, but for how much I paid I was expecting more options. I have some videos on my hard drive that I want to burn onto DVD's, but you really have to jump through hoops in order to do that with this software. Dont' get me wrong, this is good software, it just didn't meet my expectations for how much it costs.

Nero worked for a while then i noticed some encoding problems (voice not in sync with picture). Nero support had me remove the program and use a clean tool. From that point on my computer would lock up on install so i never got it back. No refund either! No more support from Nero.
I have since purchased the Sony Vegas movie studio and could not be happier with that.
