Only Techies Should Use April 3, 2008 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
Even though CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4, has a tutorial, it was not very helpful to me at all. I found it difficult to figure out how to write on the various different templates, for example when making a business card or banner. To integrate a picture for the business card, was horrible. I couldn't even get the picture to open. I t was not a picture taken from the internet it belonged to me. This program is not user friendly. I find it easier to use Corel Painter Essentials 4.
great product for educated consumer April 3, 2008 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
This program is not for the faint of heart or for the beginner. I am very familiar with Adobe Photoshop and this is a whole new language. I like many of the features. The program can accomplish a lot but the controls are not as others have stated intuitive. Expect to spend lots of time learning the ins and outs of CorelDRAW graphics suite. With time and effort it is worth the price. One thing I would really have liked is for the help screen to appear beside the work palette rather than on top of it so I would not have to toggle back and forth. Perhaps this is possible and I will return to this review as I improve my skills to continue this evaluation.
Powerful and Effective April 2, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 is a collective powerhouse of design software that can be used for all manner of design and publishing situations. Included in the package are: CorelDRAW, Corel PHOTO-PAINT, Corel CAPTURE, ConceptShare, and the Bitstream Font Navigator. There are also a bunch of small applications (like a bar-code wizard, etc.) that are quite helpful when needed.
Thankfully, CorelDRAW comes with a video product tour, and hands-on project tutorials that make learning the designing process much simpler. Hints on the right side of the page are there to help out if you ever need them.
The interactive tables and professional templates that come with the software are impressive. They are simple to use and make it easy to add data to a newsletter or report. I really like the way you can arrange the templates by type (like brochures, business cards, posters, newsletters, etc.)
The CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 package is well worth the price to anyone who needs the comprehensive assistance and utility that it brings. This is the tool that will help you take your ideas and turn them into professional graphics for logos, signs, newsletters, or web graphics. Highly recommended for the home publisher or the for the busy office.
INCREDIBLY VERSATILE DIGITAL ART PROGRAM March 31, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you are an amateur just dabbling in digital art and design, or a professional switching from hand-crafted "studio art" to all digital, I can think of no better software that CORELdraw.
I have drawn all my life but am new to digital art.
Wow. What an incredibly rich choice of almost every imaginable set of options I had when I was using real art tools on real paper-type canvases.
The results when printed on different papers or cloth are -- to me -- almost identical to hand crafted art. I was amazed.
I am still learning. The tutorials are excellent and easy to follow. I have little patience with a difficult learning curve, but I found that this software has enough rewards along the way that it encourages learning the huge array of functions that I won't list here as the product description makes clear.
My suggestion is to use as large a Wacom tablet as you can afford. Or better yet, a lap-top type pad allows drawing on the monitor.
Highest recommendation.
A good product that works well with Windows Vista and XP March 28, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I've been a user of CorelDraw for a long time. I'm always leery when new versions of a trusted product come out. Sometimes the changes in newer versions are more cumbersome that constructive. However, Corel's X4 version is satisfying.
The product contains good improvements over earlier versions that are both user friendly and visually attractive. This upgraded version has improvements in both the graphic design and desktop publishing elements that are both substantial and valuable. There are tons of included templates that make the software practical and useful for both new and seasoned users of CorelDraw.
Though somewhat pricey for the full version, considering its utility in both graphic design/drawing and desktop publishing and its user friendly set up, I believe that the product is an investment that is well worth the cost.
