Norton Internet Security and Antispyware December 28, 2007
I had to send back to Symantec. It would not download on my computer as I have Windows ME. I was told the 2005 edition would download on my computer, but it wouldn't. They are sending me a refund.
I appreciate the fast service and the good attitude on the phone, and politeness given to me. They were ready to please the customer.

Norton Internet Security slows down my system to a crawl October 24, 2006 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
NIS 2005 AntiSpyware edition came with my Dell computer that I purchased that year. While I'm satisfied with the protection that it gives me, I find that the computer moves very slowly at times, especially at startup. When I start up my computer, I take a 5 minute snack break to make better use of my time. I've since updated to the 2007 version and observe the same thing. Norton has too much going on in the background, which greatly compramises system speed. For optimum protection with greater efficiency (smaller footprint), I recommend trying NOD 32 Antivirus, available through [...].
Norton Internet Security 2005 Antispyware Edition creates as many problems as it solves December 17, 2005 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
After reading many reviews, both postitive and negative, of the Norton Internet Security 2005 Antispyware Edition, I went ahead and purchased it. I have been a Norton user for years, so I decided to take a chance. It installed easily and worked beautifully for almost two months. Then my computer started crashing. After many attempts to find the root of the problem and after much expense, I am convinced, as other reviewers warned, the Norton software is to blame. Now I cannot turn off my computer without its crashing; I am unable to update my antivirus protection because I get a message via the Norton software that it cannot make an Internet connection. (I have followed all directions for correcting this that is found on the Norton website, but nothing works.) Also, the software really slows down the receiving of email. And forget getting any help from Norton other than what is written on their website. In essence, I have paid a hefty sum for software that causes crashes, causes sluggish performance and worst of all, cannot give me up-to-date protection. I feel totally ripped off. So tonight I am going to uninstall Norton (which from past experience I suppose will involve more than a simple uninstall click) and try PC-cillin. I would recommend any potential Norton buyers to beware.
2006 Norton Internet Security Software is a loser November 27, 2005 10 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have been a satisfied Norton user for 8 years now. As usual, I was about to upgrade my 2004 Norton Internet Security module to the new 2006 update, here's what happened:
1. I was asked to remove all my Norton software from my computer before installing the download (duh! I had no back up of the program or install file on my original software.) 2. The program de-installed Spam Blocker from Norton as well as NISS. 3. The 2006 upgrade installed smoothly. Went to try and get onto the internet with my Microsoft Outlook that I had been using for the last 5 years and it would not work. 4. Called technical support (India). Took four calls before I could get anyone that I could understand. 5. Told me to de-install and re-install (twice) 2006. Did that. Still would not work. 6. Support technician said the problem was Microsoft Outlook or Explorer that had been working fine until I installed 2006 upgrade. 7. Spent 5 days trying to get help. Finally took all Norton off my computer. Explorer and Outlook worked fine. Lost Spam Blocker, but reinstalled and is integrating well with Outlook. 8. Called American Express and told them to void my American Express charge of $49.95 to Symantec.
Will attempt to put just Norton Virus Control back on my computer since I still think it is the best, but will never consider Norton Internet Security Software of any kind in the future.
Mike
PS - I just extended my service contract on my other computer using the Norton 2004 software and it is working fine.
