5 out of 5 stars A great game   November 21, 2005
3 out of 7 found this review helpful

I bought this game cause I lost my copy of Warcarft Reign of Chaos(ROC) because I bought the chest.
So yeah great game and I think this one is better than Frozen Throne(FT)

But I would recommend to get the chest instead cause for the extra bucks you get the other game and also you won't like the multi player on ROC cause of the speed of the action and you want it faster then you can play FT

Overall: 5.0 out of 5.0 really great game but get chest instead.

I only got this one cause I already had chest but I lost my copy.

3 out of 5 stars Amazing... but I'd rather have a game more like Starcraft.   November 8, 2005

In a few ways Warcraft 3 is good, but I prefer more of a Starcraft type game. WC3 has better graphics by far, more strategy, and definetly much harder because of the addition of heroes.

Obviously WC3 has better graphics. It was released after Starcraft and produced by the same company, better graphics are expected. The games cinematic movies are amazing, the characters come to life through the lines and lines of programming. Even the graphics in the normal game play are quite good compared to any other game. You can see distinct features on each of the character models, and they are pretty impressive. The graphics are great but they dont *make* the game.

The game requires much more strategy, and this is its downfall. While Starcraft was easy to learn and easy to play WC3 requires so much attention and multi-tasking it is sickening. In SC you could beat down one and sometimes two people easily just by massing the basic unit and upgrading them. In this game, you've gotta get all the units because they benefit eachother, you need buffers, healers, damage dealers, everything! If you don't have one type of unit, and the enemy does you've got no chance and are going to be decimated. He'll walk all over you and since it takes so long to build an army after he destroys you on the battlefield he'll walk right into your base and "game over." Starcraft is much more easy-going when it comes to units. Having a specific type of unit such as a defiler to cast plague, or a high templar to cast psi storm can help immensely but its not absolutely necessary to have your victory. Not to mention if your armies are destroyed out in the map you can see what units the enemy has. By the time he gets to your base you could have a whole new army and in turn whipe out his forces.

Heroes in the game are, I admit, a cool feature. They give you a sense of power, and even look cool! The thing is they are actually much too significant in the game play. If for instance you're playing and you forget to level your hero up, all of a sudden your enemy comes charging into your base with a level 6 hero. You've got the same exact number of units and type of units, but he's gonna destroy you and win the game right there. The heroes are amazingly significant and they can easily change the battle. For me it's hard to manage my workers, build a variety of units, upgrade my units, upgrade my buildings, AND level up a hero all at once.

I admit the game is amazing looking, and if I could multi-task that good I wouldn't be complaining; I'd be playing the game. The game requires a great deal of concentration, and to me seems actually to be like work, which a video game should definetly not be.

When you get a new game, you will usually play or it for 3 days or if it's really good, maybe a month. However I think, Warcraft 3 can be one of the most addicting games of all. The only way you would not like this game is if you don't like challenging games or if you get bored easily. This game is an adventure; there are lots of battle's and violence. There is a whole story mode that can be won. The whole entire point of the game is to win battles and quests, the game is bloody, but not what you think. The blood looks very fake, so who ever is playing won't go crazy. You don't have to play Warcraft 1 or 2 to be able to play warcraft 3, it is your choice. The best part of the game I could play the whole entire game for a day if I could. I recommend this game for people to 11-20.

5 out of 5 stars This is one of the best strategy games EVER........   August 12, 2005

Warcraft Three continues the old rivalry of Orks vs. Humans as the humans struggle to save their invaded lands from the Orkish Horde during Medival Times. Now that the last two invasions of the Orks are over, the Humans live for several years in peace, unaware that a massive invasion by a demonic force is just waiting for their chance to strike again.

This is where all the new and cool things in Warcraft 3, Reign of Chaos come into play......

We are now treated to two new races, both of whom get to fight the Orks and the Humans themselves, so basically it's just a big free for all. The other two races are the Undead [The most powerful group in the game besides maybe the Humans] and the Night Elves [The most resourceful group since they don't use up lumber at all]

While each race has their own strengths, they each have huge weaknesses. For example, the humans may have stronger buildings, but they take a huge amount of time building and upgrading. The Night Elves may have an abundance of lumber [As their peasants never cut down the trees] but in a small group of warriors they are relatively weak.

The Undead are extremely powerful, but you need to build their buildings on special converted groung named "Blight" which means you just can't place a building anywere and expect it to be constructed. And lastly the orks have really powerful land warriors, but their air force is lacking. I believe there is only one flying unit, all the other races have at least two, some even more.....

The main reason why Reign of Chaos is so different is the graphics and the food limit. The whole landscape is 3D material and you can zoom in and actually feel like you are looking at it from the ground perspective. In the first two Warcraft games you had an abundance of farms and troop numbers. In this game you are reduced to 90 food points. So about 3 groups of 12 units for your armies plus the peasants and you are done with your army....

But the reason I really like this game is the fact of the Heroes. Each race has their own. They are powerful leaders who can rally troops and give them extra protection as well as added damage strength when they attack. [Which can be useful in a battle] They are allowed to pick up items found all over the map. From items that heal your hero and your troops, to items that can raise the corpses of nearby skeletons and add to your army when it lookes like you are beaten. Some really cool things.

And lastly there are the creeps. Each map has some. From Harpies to Dragons, to Centaurs, to weird looking fish/frog creatures, to human bandits and rouge wizards, to giant spiders, to even trees that can attack and run after you. Plus Ogres and trolls which you can't control unless you
A. Posses them with your banshees if you are playing as Undead
or
B. Buying them at a mercenary camp. [For a hefty price though]

Be advised that this isn't even a FRACTION of what the new ideas are in this game. Each hero has their own spells with cool efects. There are multiple quests to level your Hero's experience points and make them more powerful, plus there is still the good old things such as ransacking a village and destroying your enemies. So many great things, one game that deserves your attention!
