Dragon gets it right! November 9, 2006 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
As the owner of three previous versions of Dragon Naturally Speaking, I can say that this one actually does what it is supposed to. With a minimum of voice training, the software can smoothly convert your spoken words into text. The error rate is low, and making corrections is easy. Best of all, you don't need tons of Ram to make it work. I read some reviews before I bought it, and some said it needs a minimum of 1 megabyte of Ram. I am running it succesfully with only 512k of Ram. It works well.
Voice recognition November 9, 2006 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful program. It is great software. I used to be able to type at about 35 words a minute. But now I am able to type at the speed that I can speak into the voice recognition software. I would highly recommend this software to anyone who may be a little slow typing or would just like to dictate into their computer rather than using the keyboard. This short review was actually dictated into the computer rather than using the keyboard. This will give you a feeding for the accuracy of the voice recognition software. I have just been dictating this in without going back to make any corrections.
Can't type??????? November 9, 2006 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Can't type? This is the product for you. I have big fingers and I really can't type but ....I got this Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 Preferred [LB] and I can send those letters to mom and friends daily with ease. This is one of the greatest products I have ever used. Try it you will like it
What a Boost DNS9 is giving me!! November 8, 2006 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 is giving me the edge I need to be able to trascribe handwritten text (by someone else) into editable copy and eventually manuscript form for a self-published book. I'm one who reads instructions only if necessary. Contrary to some initial advice that I would need professional tutoring to learn, by just following the tutorials after installing, within a short time I felt I had DNS9 to at least 75% accuracy. Even with the back-tracking to 'scratch that' or 'delet that' and redo on a frequent basis at first, it still is faster and more accurate than what I can do on my own. As I continue to use and work with DNS9, it's accuracy continues to improve. I expect the 99% to be attained before I'm through with this project. .......... The fact that I do not have to sit at the keyboard in the traditional sense is a huge blessing!! .......... I highly recommend this product! JUST REMEMBER, IT DOES TAKE TIME & PATIENCE TO GET TO THE 99% ACCURACY, BUT THE EFFORT IS WELL REWARDED.
A worthwhile upgrade from version 8. November 7, 2006 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
I upgraded to version 9 and I must say that it seems the speech recognition is much better. The program runs faster. There is not much in the way of an interface upgrade. Be warned that this version requires more RAM to run than version 8.
