2007 internet suite not updated but older December 3, 2007 I purchased this product to replace my 2006 internet suite. Unfortunately, this is not an updated version of the 2006. It is actually older. So, my 2006 was more updated than the 2007 version.
Still the Best Defense but Resources HOG October 31, 2007 This product works really well especially if you always had a ZA firewall thus you are familiar with the settings. If you are new to ZA there might be a learning curve and some getting used to. It is not user friendly for novice, if your knwoledge is limited stick with McAfee, otherwise for robust security buy ZA.
Don't use the Disc, go to zonelabs and download the free version of ZA, register the product, and then under product info click Change Lic and enter the CD key. ZA will update itself and add the av and spyware.
The earlier version gave people problems specially in Vista but that's changed with the latest version.
Update: Over time this product slowed dowm my laptop to a crawl; however with the new gaming PC I built I have no problems running it. Hence, this program is a resources hog, unless you have a good system or a newer computer stay away: Get the AVG antivirus (free) and the free ZA firewall version for a good defense set up. February 2008.
Not User Friendly on VISTA October 17, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this in May 2007. Product literature claims to be "VISTA Ready" and is licensed for 3 computers. Had no trouble with the first two installations on XP, but will not install on VISTA. You need to download a new file from the web, which you can't find by yourself. You need to e-mail tech support (they don't have free tech support by phone), and get a link to a web page to download the file. When you try to install this file, it probably won't install correctly. Back to tech support e-mails. At that point, you get 4 pages of instructions, which include booting in safe mode, running "regedit", deleting registry keys manually, etc. I did get the program running, but took many hours spread out over several weeks.
The program itself is satisfactory. Has problems that seem endemic to all firewall programs.
Bottom line: price is good but unless you are extremely experienced (and patient), you may want to use something else on a VISTA machine.
Doesn't work on Vista, slows down XP September 1, 2007 I bought this product because I used Zone Alarm free firewall for many years without much trouble, but this product slowed down my Windows XP machine and prevented Run VNC from working properly. Also, when I bought it, it didn't work on Vista. It wasn't until early this summer when a Vista version was finally released and then the Vista version was lacking many features found on the XP version. But the real kicker was that Zone Alarm would freeze up my Vista laptop for up to 5 minutes at a time. Their tech support was phenomenally unhelpful as was their knowledge database. The product made my laptop unusable, so Zone Alarm had to GO.
I bought Bitdefender Internet Security Suite 10.0 [2 Year Subscription for 2 PCs] and have been happy (mostly).
So to recap Zone Labs Internet Security Suite = lousy product support, lousy features on Vista (not what you're paying for), lousy product. Zone Labs, what happened to you? We had a wonderful relationship... you made good, free, products and I free-loaded off of you for years. Then when I spend money on you, you turn ugly. Bad business model.
Minimal complaints June 13, 2007 After reading the disappointing reviews on MacAffee and Norton, I opted for Zone Alarm. So far, I haven't noticed many problems, though at times I cannot access certain websites, which is frustrating. Works quietly in the background but does slow the system down, mine was by approximately 50%. I bought this in conjunction with Spy Sweeper and they seem to interact seamlessly.
