NO PROBLEMS November 3, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was an update for me from last year. No problem in the installation or use. Working fine. Looks like another good year with Norton.
Made computer unusable November 2, 2007 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
My Dell, MediocreSoft XP system is now 5 years old but by occasionally "tuning" it runs acceptably fast. When my previous Norton anti virus subscription ran out I ordered and installed 2008. Took a very long time to install. Shortly afterwards I started experiencing drastic slowdowns after running for a while. Could not shut down machine via Start/Turnoff computer. Had to hold down hardware button on computer. After a couple of weeks of this I uninstalled and installed AVG 7.5 Anti-virus in its place. The uninstall was a pain - wouldn't complete and instead opened a browser window to do the uninstall. Took hours.
Computer runs much faster in general and I haven't had any slowdown/halt problems since. Also, now, when coming out of Hibernate, I get instant connection to my wireless router. Previously it was taking a couple of minutes.
I contacted Norton and got a full refund of my money.
Good Product with some tweaks October 27, 2007 12 out of 16 found this review helpful
Solid product. Any traces of previous Nortons must be removed before installation, including a manual search and removal of ccSvcHst.exe (a Symantec shared program) which will choke your processor and RAM as it searches for removed elements if not manually removed before installation of the new program (Norton's and Windows un-install does not get rid of it).
buyer beware!! October 26, 2007 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is my last Symantec/Norton nightmare. Customer service is horrendous!!! you call one person, then you find out you have to be transferred to someone else, and wait for 30 minutes on hold. By the time you resolve an issue, you've spent 2 hours, time that I don't have to waste. I'll never buy another Symantec/Norton product again in my life!! Clean up your customer service, if you want to call it that!!
Headache October 24, 2007 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am using Windows Vista and I have a Verizon wireless V740 pc card for my laptop. After installation of Norton AntiVirus 2008, and rebooting, I could not open the VZAcccess Manager. Spent 3 sessions with Norton tech support but could not resolve the issue. Went back to the Norton AntiVirus 2007 version - no more problems!
