major problem installing January 25, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Major problem installing, messed up Internet connectivity with UN-ending alarms for connections to websites and finally blocking most of them. Turned into such nuisance that I had to uninstall and switch to different Internet security software.
Good overall protection for multiple PCs January 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been usin Kaspersky since about last two years. This was my fist purchase of overall protection suit. Overall a good product. It's firewall training mode, and proactice defence related pop-ups may wear downs the non-specialist users, and they might either hit all allow option reducing security or they may deny some needed component causing functionality issues in application. Besides this nag this is a very good product.
Great value for the price!! January 24, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Excellent product!! At first you will find a little annoying because of the learning mode that keep asking you what should it do, but later you will give the credit it deserves! It's hourly updates makes Kaspersky the fastest in identifying new threats and it's monitoring system is close to perfection! I read a few reviews before I purchased it and I'm glad it delivered what I was expecting.
Too complex even for an average user January 23, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Impressions after one month after install. Used to be very happy with KAV 6, so bought KIS 7.0.1.125. More complex than previous versions, and not too friendly/intuitive - requires a lot of manual tune-up and beyond average computer knowledge though I'm a fairly educated used. Bugs/drawbacks: (1)Immediately crashed my home network (no file sharing, no acceess to other computers). Knowledge base is silent on the matter, so after 25 minutes wait on the tech support phone line (no 800 number) was told to install the newer version 7.0.1.321. It solved the home network problem. (2) Sometimes, when you need to open a pop up window or another tab/IE window KIS blocks it. Addiding the site to the trusted list doesn't help. This happens even on Kaspersky page when I wanted to start a live chat with their tech support.(3) When I use bittorrent client under the KIS propriotary firewall I'm not getting proper connections, hence slower uploads/downloads. This was not a problem with KAV 6. Addiding the application to the trusted list is a nightmare as you have to create rules for it and this is beyond average Joe's understanding. So for the bittorrent client I have to switch to the original windows firewall. Bummer. Help database is not helpful on my issues. Will have to call tech support again. These are three problem areas I uncovered so far. The rest works pretty well. IMHO, creating a more complex product is not always better.
Kaspersky is still the best January 20, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Althought amongst the kaspersky family no 7 is so far the most criticized, i'm convinced this is still the best protection suite for pc's out there. I've benn using nod32(which i must say is no 2) for 2 years and it never gave me any trouble, it made me feel my pc was protected. I decided to try kaspersky because of all the stuff everybody say about it (like many other people), so i bought it and i've using it for some time now. The good:no virus or any other malware passes undetected by kaspersky. It even detected a virus on a document nod32 never did (which had been on my pc for months, slowing it down!. It's firewall's better than windows's. The bad: slows down my laptop a little (even though it has a centrino duo of 2GHz and 2gb of RAM), and the firewall's little confusing at first. The price is relative high, also... Well, anyway, i firmly believe this is the best protection for my computer, when kaspersky 8 comes out i'll buy it right away.
