Hidden Faults with Norton Ghost June 24, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
All the review said this was a easy to use product. After installation it failed to back my C: drive as promised in the literature. I had to GOOGLE for a solution. And finally after doing 7 "CHECKDSK" command it finally work.
Back up made easy. June 13, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Works well and reliably. I upgraded from version 9 which worked well for many years, but isn't compatible with Vista. Norton support was there when I needed them. I can only compare it to MS back-up which never worked for me when I needed it. Don't bother with MS.
It doesn't work.... June 8, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this product for my wife's Toshiba laptop with Vista since I've had great experience with Ghost before. It keeps failing during the backup process. 4 or more sessions and 15+ hours with Symantec's tech support staff in India and the results are the same. It simply doesn't work. We are doing what another review already mentioned....upgrade Windows to Ultimate, which has a built in backup feature.
Didn't work June 2, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
All I can say is it plain didn't work. All I wanted to do was a simple system backup to a new hard drive and replace the old one with the new one. The system would not boot with thew new drive. Tried the same process with a free download of a different software and it worked with no problems at all.
Norton/Symantec is allowing feature creep to destroy their products. Hey Norton!... users want products that are simple and effective.
Norton Ghost is dead May 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product is terrible. I could not make a recovery cd because it crashed my computer everytime the network drivers were supposed to be transferred to the cd. Recovery cd that came with it boots but no network capability. Tech support took me 4 hours of nightmare response from an obvious foreign country that didn't care if I ever got to sleep. All they did was crash my computer again and never could keep them connected. So, no recovery cd, no tech support, me NO PAY. After another 1 hour with another foreign source I convinced him that either I get a refund or file a credit card dispute. Where is Peter Norton- is he ghosted? Don't waste your money on this product.
