4 out of 5 stars Super fun and addicting, an extension of DD2   November 17, 2008
I'm a huge fan of all four of the Diner Dash games and play them frequently. They're perfect for kids and adults of all ages -- neutral content, no language or violence issues. You play the main character, Flo, who saves restaurants from failure with her amazing waitressing skills. You serve a variety of customer types by taking their orders, delivering their food, bringing the check, and cleaning the table after they leave. You can make "chains" by performing a series of the same action (taking all the orders, for instance), allowing you to rack up huge bonuses.

This third version of Diner Dash -- Flo on the Go (FOTG) -- continues the storyline and the fun. Like the previous versions, there are 50 levels (5 groups of 10) in all. Kids, and girls in particular, will enjoy the updates in this version, as the primary change from Diner Dash 2 is that you can now change Flo's outfits.

The graphics and functionality in FOTG are identical to those in DD2. There was such a huge improvement in graphics quality between DD1 and DD2 that I was expecting to be blown away by this third version; but instead, the creators simply borrowed the graphics and functionality from DD2, created a new storyline, and added some new environments and minor features.

The first new feature is "Flo's Closet," briefly described above. As you progress through the game, you win clothes and accessories for Flo to wear. You can change her outfit at any time. As in DD2, you can still upgrade certain decor items around the restaurant, but your upgrade choices are very limited. For a group of 10 levels, you get 5 outfit upgrade sessions and 5 decor upgrade sessions. Although girls 7-12 years old will probably get the most enjoyment out of Flo's Closet, the restaurant decor upgrades are gender-neutral -- making the previous version of DD more fun and rewarding for *both* boys and girls, or anyone who doesn't care what Flo wears (myself included).

The second feature of FOTG involves two brand new restaurant patrons: tourists, who want Flo to take their picture; and lovebirds, whose "smooching" annoys the surrounding tables. The rest of the patrons are the standard ones: girls, families, bookworms, businesswomen, kindly seniors.

Additional new features that occur on certain levels are "turbulence," which shakes the restaurant and spills glasses (requiring Flo to mop frequently), and "blackouts," where the screen is dark except for the circle of light around the mouse pointer. Don't let these challenges deter you from your goal -- you must still keep customers happy!

In summary: Compared to DD1, this third version is an amazing improvement; but, as a sequel to DD2, it falls just slightly short, for which I'm giving it 4/5 stars overall. Why? It's still super fun and addicting; but the graphics are the same as DD2, I don't find Flo's Closet to be a huge perq, and I was disappointed to see the creators cut back on the highly enjoyable and rewarding decor upgrade feature. Overall, though, FOTG is worth the purchase and is a welcome addition to the Diner Dash series!

5 out of 5 stars Bought for the kids, and parents play it more   July 14, 2008
Bought for the kids and they love it. Very entertaining. Works great on Vista with no problems. The wife and I have played it more than the kids. Great for all ages. The cousins come over and want to play it right away. Highly recommended.

this game is a great edition to the Diner Dash series, which gets better as it goes. in this one you actually get to change Flo's clothes! there are more upgrade choices for the restaurants you play in and the graphics are good. there are different characters that you wait on. it's a fun game and i recommend it to any one that's interested.

5 out of 5 stars Fun game for tweens through adults   May 3, 2008
This game is fun and addictive. Adults will enjoy the restaurant part of the game and tween girls will love the fact that they can change Flo's outfits as the game progresses. Fun game!
