5 out of 5 stars Runs well.   January 3, 2007

I have been using Quicken since 2000 for my family accounting and my LLC biz accounting also. I updated my Quicken from ver2004 to ver2007. Costco had a much better price than Amazon for this software. The update process went smoothly. The ver2007 has a lot more reporting capabilities than the ver2004. The on-line update seems to be either on-the-par or a little slower than the ver2004. I tried the MS money deluxe back in mid -2006, but I just don't like the interface design from MS Money. So far, 2 months after the updating, I haven't run into any problem. Overall, I am happy with the ver2007 Quicken.

2 out of 5 stars Quicken? Ugh!   January 2, 2007

I gave up on Quicken almost 10 years ago. At that time, downloading was pretty buggy, and it required too much manual intervention, so I reverted to tracking stuff in a spreadsheet.

I figured it was time to try again....

Ugh! Buggy, slow, counterintuitive, and incomplete. I primarily wanted a consolidated view of my investments. Easy, right?

No support for CD's. No support for savings bonds. Limited idea of asset classes.

I've spent hours just trying to get things setup. I had to jump through weird hoops just to download all of my accounts from Vanguard -- an instituion one would think would be well supported.

I plan to give this dog a little more of my time, and then I'll find a different way to torture myself.

2 out of 5 stars Confusing And Buggy   December 26, 2006

What a disappointing piece of software. It is buggy and completely unintuitive. I'll be returning it.

5 out of 5 stars What modern home businesses have been waiting for!   December 7, 2006

This software has changed my life! It incorporates many for the features of QuickBooks, yet shows me my mortgage payments, personal cash flow & budgets.
Better,it also synchronises transparently with my Palm's Pocket Quicken! Now I rarely need to sit down at the PC and do my books.
After 7 years using Quicken for personal use and Quickbooks for my business, this combines both. My accountant is delighted because he can tweak my personal oncome vs company income; the same for assets, purchases can be apportioned between business & personal (ie phone bills, etc).
If you don't have a business, perhaps this edition is not for you. But for me, it saves me maybe 2 hours per week and helps me make better decisions. A real quiet achiever. Quicken's only mistake was possibly in its marketing.

5 out of 5 stars I love Quicken   November 23, 2006

I've been a Quicken user for almost ten years, and upgraded after I read the PC Magazine review of Quicken 2007. The downloads of my checking and credit card accounts work better than ever. I can download all the transactions, scan them to make sure that the categories are right, and I'm done. I'm sure I don't use everything in the product, but for what I'm doing, it makes it so easy...and it cuts my tax preparation time by like 80% at the end of the year.
