Unreliable and buggy November 21, 2006 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have used Quicken since the mid-90s, and each release adds more new cool features while simultaneously becoming more unstable and Quicken 2007 H&B is no exception. Some of the new stuff is really nice like background downloading of transactions and automatic naming of backup files. But this new version (r2) doesn't download transactions successfully anymore - they're downloaded but invisible in the register. And my payroll splits are also now invisible and uneditable. How Intuit can release a program that has such huge bugs is beyond me, but the last thing one needs is financial software that loses your data! And Intuit's customer support is worthless. If you're using anything else then don't switch to Quicken. And if you're using Quicken then don't upgrade. Should Intuit resolve this mess then I'll post an update here, but I'm not holding my breath.
Quicken 2006/2007 November 7, 2006 18 out of 20 found this review helpful
Well I have to say Quicken 2000 was working fine for me. Got 2006 Premier Home & Business for whatever I thought it would add for me. Practically nothing. The nice one-click reports section I had on the left side in 2000 is gone. Now I have to make multiple clicks to get the same thing (oh, you can put a up to 3 on the top bar but that's it - only 3 !!!). I've been using quicken since before version 3 in the late 80's or early 90's and now I believe their programmers are just cranking out whatever they think is an improvement even though it's not. I'm still testing 2006 after 3 months since I'm not about to quit 2000 without a thorough understanding of what 2006 gives me and takes away. Too bad, the 2007 interface looks a bit better than 2006 but with all the troubles I read about I think I'll wait 'till 2008 to see if they fix the bugs/problems they put in 2006/2007. Too bad, I was a quicken junkie until I saw 2006.
Almost did not upgrade November 6, 2006 19 out of 23 found this review helpful
After reading the horrible reviews for this I almost decided not to upgrade. Finally I decided to get it and upgrade the house account first to see how things went before upgrading the business account. I do not know why others are having such problems, but mine loaded without a problem, upgraded without a problem and works flawlessly! I do have a computer that is less than a year old with a gig of memory and I keep my Windows XP Professional fully updated - maybe that is the key?
Good personal Financial tool November 3, 2006 Easy to install and start up - some problems with downloading from certian financial institutions that are updating thier software. I do not thik it will work as small business software but handy to keep expenses organized and reconcile credit cards and bank accounts. reports are easily customized
Solid update November 3, 2006 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
I've been a long time quicken user. I was last on version 2004, and the upgrade to 2007 was well worth it. A number of bugs were fixed - but most importantly, I found that the online bank linking features were much stronger and that I could now do 1 button sync with Bank of America (it used to require a download and import of the data file).
