Horrible upgrade - do not buy August 25, 2004 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
Horrid upgrade. Hours and hours trying to get it to work, finally came up but missing transactions, balances all wrong, etc. error code 7300. tech support says it is corrupted transactions but all works in 2004 version which I went back too. Forget the 2005 version.
Heads Up Before You Buy August 20, 2004 36 out of 39 found this review helpful
Quicken is migrating away from QIF files but not all the financial institutions have caught up. You can still import QIF files for credit card transactions, but cannot for investing transactions. This caught me off guard after upgrading and trying to import my recent quarter's 401K activity and could not. So before you upgrade make sure the financial institutions you use will be able to communicate with Quicken 2005.
XP users beware August 19, 2004 38 out of 41 found this review helpful
I'm a long time user of quicken, and thought I would purchased this upgrade. The problem is that the software refuses to install correctly on my Win XP computer, prompting me to un-install, and then re-install, over-and-over-again.
I was able to install the software on my work Window 2000 computer, but that does me little good. Quicken customer support has been very lacking, even though they know about this problem. A quick search their support site, will locate this problem, though no solution is provided.
The short of it is, this year's version isn't worth the pain.
Quicken support as lacking as always August 18, 2004 25 out of 29 found this review helpful
I have purchased the 2005 for Mac and it installed and works fine. However, the registration process doesn't work and it keeps bugging me to register online. When I try to it just keeps coming back to remind me to register so I have to click TRY AGAIN LATER every time. I talked online with Quicken support and they said they are aware of the problem and are working on it and for me to check back. I asked to be notified of a fix but was told that I would have to check back. Intuit support is just bad.
Get with the Program and Use Direct Connect August 18, 2004 20 out of 58 found this review helpful
All of these reviews are based on no QIF support. That ended in Quicken 2004. Why would you want to export a file from a website then import into Quicken when you can just click one button from within quicken and have it go get all of your recent data for you? If you bank doesnt support direct connect or web connect I would be very surprised and would direct your fustration at your bank.
Quicken has been good for my finances for the last 10 years with excellent features.
