Sweet!!!! March 2, 2006 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
What a great product. Not much change from last year interface wise but time will tell. There is a new enhanced smarter interface to banks on some of my existing accounts (previous version weren't great at keeping transactions in sync/balanced based upon how the banks were connected).
Works for me!! March 1, 2006 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I am currently trying the 90 day free trial for Money Deluxe 2006. Also, I purchased Quicken Premier for Business 2006 and have returned Quicken which has a 60 day return policy. i tried both head to head. I do like some feautures in each product. Quicken downloads your accounts much quicker then Money does. I have a big problem with Quicken. I cannot download a QIF file. Since my main credit card is in a QIF file i cannot track that. So, for me, that alone is a deal breaker and MS Money will work with that credit card company. Quicken does have some great online support features but for Money I needed to register and couldn't find the key I needed. maybe this is because it is a free trial version. Each program has it's own idiosynchroncies. It did take a while for me to get the accounts right in Money 2006. They appear to be fine now. There is definitely a learning curve for each prroduct. i recommend trying the Money 90 day free trial and purchasing Quicken which has a 60 day money back guarantee, as I did, to see which one works best for you. It can be very frustrating when these programs don't so what you want them to do but there are learning curves and i realize they are not perfect. I am getting used to Money and am learning as I go.
Update March 24, 2006
I backed up Money and did a restore and had to set up my online services again so I would be able to get my updated account information. This did not make any sense to me.
Not worth upgrade from previous years... February 26, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I agree that this software does not provide a significant update to the previous year's version. It may be worth picking up just because it can be obtained for free with certain deals. I have the standard version on one machine and deluxe on the other. I don't believe that deluxe is a significant upgrade for most people either. The functionality of the planning software is unfortunately not that great.
Works well - has a few problems February 25, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've been using MS Money for quite a few years now and like it, mostly. This version is an improvement over my last (2002) version, but not spectacular. It does what I need it to do and does it well, with the following exceptions:
1. It's hard to get the reports I want. When I find an included report that I want to use, it lets me customize it (that's good), but it saves my changes to the included report (that's bad!!). I should be able to change any report, but then I should have to save it as a different / favorite report. It shouldn't allow me to make changes to the base reports because then I can never go back and use the base report - kind of stupid.
2. The performance with this version is a bit slow. I have a new 2.1 Ghz computer with 1 gigabtye of RAM, but it still takes about 30 seconds to a minute to load on the home page (with the graphics on). It also seems a bit sluggish other times.
3. The budgeting process is very difficult to work with, but with patience, it does the job.
Overall, it does what I want it to do, and is an improvement over my older version, but could certainly use some help in reports and budgeting. It's a better choice for me than Quicken (which also has its problems). Hopefully, MS makes more substantial changes in the next version.
Weak display February 25, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
THe screen display for the check register is hard to read and the display cannot be modified. Very primitive by today's standards. Works okay.
