5 out of 5 stars Creativity Galore   July 26, 2008
After using Photoshop Elements 6.0 for about a month, I'm still having fun with it, still learning something new about it almost every day!

The delightful discoveries it keeps providing reminds me of a dream I used to have as a child: I would enter a house, start to explore it, and always find another room.

These are a few of the things I've done with Photoshop Elements:

1. Sharpened up my digital photos.
2. Taken the "speckles" out of scanned photos.
3. Discovered how to work with layers (I find layers especially helpful in digital scrapbooking, a hobby I've just started).
4. Learned how to make some of my own digital elements for scrapbooking through utilizing the effects menu.
5. Made some "watercolor" paintings out of photographs, using the effects menu, then tweaking the color(washing it out), through various brushes.

Some of my favorite tools in PhotoShop Elements are:

1. The Effects menu. Man, you can go wild editing images! The sky is the limit. I have only just begun to get creative.

2. The brush collection. Each brush provides a different effect, and the hundreds of brushes in the collection can be added to by downloading others from the Net. (I've downloaded two.) Of course, the brushes can be sized from a tiny 1 point to a mega 2000+. Their opacity (transparency) can also be changed easily by using a slider control. AND the eraser tool can erase in the shape of any brush--so color can be "lifted" with as much creativity as it can be applied.

3. The cookie cutter tool. This allows me to easily shape/crop my photos into any shape I desire--such as round, oval, heart, etc. PhotoShop even has a a cookie cutter collection of shapes possessing what I call "casual edges", which causes the photo to look as though it was "painted" on the page with the quick strokes of a bold brush.

4. The Magic Eraser and Background Eraser. You can select a shape with the Magic Wand (or select it by "painting" over it with the paintbrush selecter), apply the Magic Eraser, and zip! Everything not selected disappears, to be replaced by a transparent (shown as checkered) background.

And there you have it--the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the potential packed into Photoshop Elements 6.

One other thing: I'm finding Barbara Brundage's book, "Photoshop Elements 6, The Missing Manual", to be quite helpful in finding my way around the complexities of the program. Coming from a 1998 Version of CorelDraw/Corel PhotoPaint, I was overwhelmed with all the new things to learn when I first opened up Photoshop Elements 6. That first week I was dazed, even though I was watching tutorials on YouTube, etc. to try to figure it all out. That's when I decided to order "The Missing Manual" (marketed as "the book that should have been in the box.") It's 567 clearly-written pages are well worth the money you pay for it.

Still learning,

This product has no instruction manual with it. I do not find the on-line links very helpful. As a result I haven't been able to use any of the features. I suppose it is necessary to purchase a manual to explain the features if you have never used Photoshop before.

1 out of 5 stars the worst sale of my life   July 21, 2008

I cannot tell you how well this product works since the dealer "OCEAN BABE" who gladly took my money, will not send the licence code to make it operational.

I hope that Amazon will remove this seller from its list as there is no reason to trust this person.

If you check the other reviews of this person you will find more of the same.
