4 out of 5 stars Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2   June 10, 2007
Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2~ Windows is great game which lets you fight in all the battles that the movie did not show. This is both good and bad as I would have liked them to have included both. However, maybe this is something that they will include in the part 3. The graphics are much better then part one and the gameplay is remarkbly faster. However, one does not get to keep resources which is unrealistic and heroes should have like 5 or 6 powes instead of 4. Still and all this is a nice game. I highly reccomend it and give it 4 well deserved stars.

4 out of 5 stars Very good, but with some flaws.   June 8, 2007

I am a big Lord of the Rings fan, and also a big RTS fan, so I was thrilled when I found out that there would be a LotR RTS game. I played the first Battle for Middle Earth, and the only thing I didn't really like was the fact that you can only build buildings on certain build plots. When I heard that there was going to be a second BfME game, and that players could build anywhere to design their own castle, I was once again very excited. I promptly bought BfME2 as soon as possible, and while it is an incredible game, it does have some drawbacks. I am the type of player who does not like running out of resources, so the fact that the resource buildings produce less if they are too close to each other is a pretty big complaint I have about the game. I also do not like that walls can only be built within a certain distance of your fortress. I like to contain my opponent and protect my outlying resource buildings, but I find myself limited by the building restrictions that were not supposed to be present, even on small, two player maps. I enjoy everything else about this game, and it is really good for any LotR or RTS fans, but these negative features I mentioned earned this title a 4 star rating.

4 out of 5 stars Very good, but it could have been more convincing.   March 9, 2007

This game is a worthy waste of money, as games go. Its graphics are extremely good, and the gameplay is easy to learn. It has very numerous steps from beginner to hard-core gamer, being the capacity for easy armies to "brutal" armies, with handicaps of 5% between 0 to 95. In all respects, the game is the best RTS I've ever played, and is a step up from the first, in difficulty and in presentation. My only problem with the game is the amount of errors that would cause Tolkein to roll in his grave- Glorfindel, the slayer of Balrogs and the precedent for the five Istari... reduced to THAT? It doesn't quite ring true to me, but for casual fans, it's an extremely fun game. Just don't expect to become knowledgeable about Lord of the Rings off of it.

4 out of 5 stars details on game play lacking   February 3, 2007

I liked the game but if you want to fully understand how to play the game you need to buy the guide for $20.
I'm yet to understand how to use all the things I've unlocked. I'm unable to access that area unless I win a level and only sometimes it shows it. could be unlocking the skirmish modes. I have no idea. The Damn book doesn't say anything about it.

5 out of 5 stars Tips for beginers on the elven faction   February 3, 2007

If you are haveing trouble in the game and are just not getting the swing then read this review and it'll give you all the info you need.

Elves: Send a builder and have him build a malorn tree at an area of 100% behind your fortress. Next have the other builder construct a barracks at the side of the fortress. Then train your custom made hero. If you don't have a custom hero to train, train Haldir instead. Now once your barracks is finished train four battalions of Lorien archer and place them were the enemy is most likely to attack from. Keep building malorn trees at as mant 100% areas possible. DO NOT place malorn trees to far from your fortress. When you have enough malorn trees and resources build a forge and ugrade it as soon as possible to level 3 and purchase the silver thorn arrows. Put them on your archers and when you have enough resources train Legolas. This shold give you a strong and sturdy defense. For the counter attack train 8 battalions of Mirkwood archers(note: you must first upgrade your barracks to level 3) and give them the banner carrier upgrade and silver thorn arrows. Make sure you have the ent allies spell when you attack. Use the archers to pick off infantry and other buildings while your ent allies take down the enemy's fortress.
