Productivity Killer October 18, 2007 The constant warning popups for every background process at every computer startup and every start of an application (despite the attempts to create rule and adding them to 'safe list') make Kaspersky a major nuisance and productivity killer.
Buy 7.0 October 6, 2007 I actually bought the 6.0 version last week. I had a couple initial problems. I opened the packaged and inserted the provided CD and it would not run. The disc is blank. This is where I started thinking about a refund. So I went to the Kaspersky web site and downloaded 7.0 with my key code. You can also download it as a trial run before you buy it which I think is a good idea, keep reading. The website does not even offer 6.0 anymore. So I downloaded and installed 7.0. Reboot the computer. Kaspersky is running but it shut down the internet. I cannot use Firefox, IE and Kaspersky itself cannot find a connection to update itself.
So I send an email to their support. They send me some random instructions to push this button and that button on the Kaspersky control panel. I look at the instructions and realize that I do not have any of those buttons on my version of Kaspersky. I reply to this effect and they send me some more random nonsense instructions.
I finally use their live chat option. The person that responded is actually helpful. They give me some diagnostic programs to run to find the conflict. I remove some old programs. Reinstall Kaspersky. And now it runs. As it is working now it seems to run pretty well. It hasnt found any viruses yet but did find some adware.
Conclusion: Bad initial start up and installation experience. Now that it is active it seems to work fine.
A Great Internet Security Suite October 1, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased Kaspersky Internet Security to replace Microsoft's Live OneCare. The main reason I switched is that reviews are constantly show OneCare as being significantly less effective at detecting viruses, etc (all though it was very easy to use and nicely non-intrusive).
Kaspersky ranked very highly for effectiveness and didn't seem to have all of the complaints that Norton and McAfee seem to get. So I thought I'd try it out.
All in all, it's an excellent suite. It was easy to set up, it's very non-intrusive, and it's not a resource hog (unless it's actively scanning). Most of the time I don't even know it's running - until it pops up a warning, etc. I also like it's detailed information. You have much more detail on what it's doing as well as a lot more control than I had with OneCare. It sacrifices some of the simplicity but I prefer to have the control.
I've only been running it for a month but, so far, there doesn't seem to be any downside. It's working great for me.
Compatibility Problems September 14, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Kaspersky Internet Security has serious compatibility issues with Microsoft Outlook. Once installed, Outlook is no longer able to connect with the mail server. Numerous discussions with support has failed to rectify this issue. If Kaspersky fixes this issue, I will update this review.

Rated #2 in many independent reviews. Virus scan is dead slow and locks up to many prgrams causing you to reboot.
