1 out of 5 stars No help on installation from Kaspersky for 12 days...   August 20, 2007
0 out of 3 found this review helpful

I purchased the Kaspersky Internet security 6.0 and could not install it. I reported it to Kaspersky and after 6 days of no word, I sent it back for a refund to Amazon. After 12 days I did get a reply which would not have helped as I had already sent it back. The answer did not address the error message I got anyway! If a security software does not help the consumer, then we must be back in Russia.

1 out of 5 stars Unstable - One problem after another   August 14, 2007

I have been using McAfee and Norton security and antivirus programs for years, and decided to try out Kaspersky due to the positive reviews. Unfortunately, in just the few weeks I've been using Kaspersky, I've experienced nasty program crashes and one problem after another.

The first problem was that I had McAfee installed already when I installed Kaspersky. According to Kaspersky's instructions, Kaspersky would prompt to uninstall McAfee if it was detected during the install process. It did not do that, and Kaspersky installed itself anyways. This lead to CPU spikes and an unusable Windows environment. Fortunately, I was able to login in Safe Mode and uninstall McAfee, which resolved the problem.

The next problem was that the full system scan would crash when scanning my Outlook messages. I contacted Kaspersky and was told to disable the Outlook email scanning feature. That resolved the problem, but my messages are no longer scanned. Great.

Next, I downloaded and installed the free McAfee SiteAdvisor program, which provides you with a security ranking on Google search results and any website you visit. Apparently even that conflicts with Kaspersky and causes Windows to crash with a blue screen error. After uninstalling McAfee SiteAdvisor, the problem went away.

After all that, just this week, Kasperksy crashed again during a system scan. I contacted Kaspersky support, and this time it was due to a bad automatic daily update from them. They responded within 24 hours this time and provided instructions for removing that update.

In the years I've been using McAfee and Norton, they NEVER crashed or brought down my operating system. Kaspersky has crashed repeatedly in just the few weeks I've been using it, and I cannot recommend this product to anyone.

5 out of 5 stars Prefer over Norton   August 12, 2007

I have used Norton products for years, found them in the last couple of years to be slowing down my computer. So far the switch has been good, easy and Kapersky doesn't take as long bogging down the start up of my machine or otherwise. If you go to their website you can download a free trial that works for 30 days and see how it works for you first.

1 out of 5 stars DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH FOR A REFUND!   August 12, 2007

My computer was hijacked 5 weeks into a 2 year contract. I asked for a refund & all I was offered is more of their service. Spare yourself the headache. Try Trend Micro PC-ILLIN Internet Security.

3 out of 5 stars Nice try   July 26, 2007

For the most part I am very happy with the antivirus / internet security part of the program. The big disappointment and problem is the anti spam flat out does not work. Kaspersky knows about the multiple problems and does not have a fix for the problem even though they insist they do. They promise the problem is fixed in the 7.0 upgrade version but it has not been released yet. The release has been promised for the last two months and yet the release never comes. They say the Beta is out but if you can find it and download it they say they will not give tech support for the Beta version. The only options are to wait for them to get it together and hope they did make a working program in the 7.0 version or forget their anti spam , disable it and go with a good third party program which is what I will do if they don't get it together soon. This is my first year with them and if they can't get it together it will be my last. I do like the parts of the program that work but I bought a whole program and expect the whole program to work. I hope somebody with a conscience from Kaspersky reads this.
