The best steering wheel out there! May 11, 2008 I have this set up with my GT5 game and OMG it's so realistic. IT's the closest to racing you'll ever get. I love the option of having either the 6 speed shifter, up/down shifting, or the padal shift. This is made out of high quality material. Just plug and play.
A little pricey for what you get. May 8, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all, if you want a racing wheel, this is hands down the one to get. The only problem I have with it is that the price was too steep for what I actually got. Amazon's description made this wheel seem slightly better than it is. The force feedback is not as strong as I expected. The gearbox has no resistance when you shift. The pedals seem a little too close together. The wheel itself could be a little bigger but I can see why it's not so as to save space on your desktop. I use mine with my PS3 and every time you turn the system on or off, the wheel starts spinning to calibrate itself. This also happens whenever you start a game. It scared me at first and now just seems really annoying but can be solved by just unplugging the USB chord when not in use. These are all minor problems that most will probably overlook. It's worth buying but I'd try to find the best deal you can on it, don't pay over $240.
High performance racing wheel May 7, 2008 This racing wheel is fantastic, it is a simulator of the real car condition, it is made with high quality. great materials. i did play GT5 with it and is incredible, and so realistic. if you are fanatic of racing games i recomend to you this wheel, you gonna to enjoy for ever each cents spend on it.
It's like Im Driving May 4, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Recently buying Gran Turismo 5 Prologue caused me to want to take my racing game up to the next level. Enter the G25 racing wheel. Playing GT in cockpit view almost seems like I am racing in Daytona. The feedback this wheel gives makes me feel the road and what I may be doing wrong or right. This wheel is set apart with it's shifter and clutch.
Of course a big plus is the complete compatibility with GT 5 Prologue. The learning curve is actually steep if you are used to using a regular controller as I am. Although I guess if you want to learn how to be a semi pro this is about as cheap of an investment you could make. This does make racing games a lot of fun. The components are rather heavy and well made. Now you may be asking, Where would I put this stuff? A desk or table would work fine. Although I am betting most of you don't have a table high enough or a desk available in your t.v. room. That's where the Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat comes in. I don't want to sound like an advertisement but if you are going to buy the wheel you will inevitably need this set up. Of course Amazon has it available and it makes the experience that much greater.
I would advise any racing fan who either has a PC, PS2, or PS3 to get this wheel. It really adds that experience you could only find in an arcade. And at one buck a pop that really adds up. This is about the cheapest piece of passion you can buy. And considering the prices of fuel right now this is about the cheapest ride you can buy.
Excellent wheel for PS3 May 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic product. I've never owned a wheel before, but wow the force feedback adds so much to the experience. The leather is nice to the touch and feels similar to an STI wheel except smaller. The best part is the paddle shifters which I prefer over the gearbox or sequential shifter. Very easy to use unless you spin out in which case you might hit the wrong one.
There are some caveats. First, it wasn't explicitly made for the PS3, so you'll have to figure out which buttons do what. However, it's obvious the designers anticipated PS2 or PS3 use so there are some familiar control sets. I didn't explore much, but didn't find the button to shift the driver perspective. I prefer the default one so no big deal. Second, the clutch doesn't seem to really do anything. You can just shift without it so why bother using it. No pesky synchros here! Third, the pedals are a little too close as I'll sometimes hit the clutch and the brake when slowing.. Fourth, be careful when a race starts as the wheel's rest position isn't always straight.
As for additional hardware, you may need a USB extension cable as the one supplied only goes 5 feet or so. Same for the AC.
