3 out of 5 stars Naturally Speaking, It's a Gift!   April 8, 2008
Had a few initial problems with installation, but after that hitch, got it up and it works great!!!

1 out of 5 stars Maybe a dragon, but not a speaking one   April 8, 2008
I worked as a radio broadcaster doing news and advertising at large stations. But no matter how well I can enunciate, training this software has proved nearly impossible - at least for me. It fails to work well when attempting to dictate a short sentence or a long one. I spent two full days following their tutorial to get it to work properly. Because they have only high cost manufacturer's support I have avoided contacting them -- especially when the history of factory support for software has not been exemplary. Dragon Speaking Naturally is sure not worth the price they're asking for it. Very disappointing.

4 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised   April 5, 2008
I am a novice to this product, but I am quite surprised and pleased with the accuracy of the recognition software. There is a learning curve to get it to work like you would like, but I find that once past the learning issues it is a very useful tool.

4 out of 5 stars software is excellent; headset not trustworthy   April 1, 2008

Years ago, I tried an earlier version of Dragon, but it was so bad I sent it back. After reading some reviews, I decided to give it another shot.

About a month ago, I received the order promptly from Amazon and anxiously installed it, or tried to. I couldn't resolve the problems on my own, so I called Nuance "the first call is free". After jumping through a number of hoops, it was up and running ... for awhile. When I tried to show it off, it worked on one application, then another, then ... it quit on all. Another time, it began working again, then quit.

When it worked, it was a delight, almost like magic. I bought an after market headset locally, and while it wasn't as accurate, it worked and showed me the problem was the headset.

I contacted Amazon for a return (my first to them), and I must say, it was the smoothest, easiest return I have ever made for an internet or catalog purchase. Amazon paid shipping both ways and sent the new one before the old one was received. Absolutely tremendous service.

So far, so good with the new headset. In case of problems, I decided to keep the additional one, although I prefer the one provided, as long as it works.

As an additional item of related information, the Nuance website provides a list of compatible hardware. After studying that list and doing further research, I purchased a Sony UX80 portable recorder directly from Sony, since it wasn't available from Amazon. What you can do is record to the Sony, upload it to your computer, and have Dragon turn it into the printed word.

It was a great addition: 1.7 oz., 1 AAA battery, whose life they claim is an incredible 34 hours. 24 hours recording time at highest quality, 590 hours at lowest quality. MP3 format, USB plug built in and the quality is astounding. About $160, a must have companion to the Dragon.

1 out of 5 stars Necesita pagar $10 para ayudar cada tiempo!! Es muy mal!   March 31, 2008

No paga por esta programa. Hay un precio por CADA tiempo para ayudar de $10, CADA tiempo. Es un mejor "rip-off" de la compania "Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking."
