5 out of 5 stars I love it!   February 10, 2008

This does everything that I liked about Office 2000 and improves on it vastly. I'm very satisified with the product.

3 out of 5 stars A bit perplexing ,but still powerful   February 9, 2008

I'm a professional user of Excel 2003 and I purchased the Home edition of Office 2007 to use for my own budgeting and to learn VBA and macros.

Bottom line: if you've never ever used Office before, this edition has the shortest learning curve of any in the line. If you're an experienced user, you will be frustrated by some things (such as the suddenly very hidden Save As function).

Had I been able to find a copy of Office 2003, I would have purchased it. While this edition is every bit as powerful as its predecessors, Office 2007 perplexes me because, after more than a decade on the market, Microsoft created a product designed to be used by someone who has never seen it before. The impressively short learning curve makes for a cumbersome interface, ie you have to do a lot more with the mouse. I know that appeals to most casual users, but it is a real time drain when you're used to the faster keyboard interface.

I am very glad that most of the 2003 key shortcuts (which make Excel much faster to use and therefore more efficient) are still in 2007. Actually, all of them might be there - I haven't tried all of them. If these had been taken out, I would have asked for a refund and instead tried to find a bootleg of 2003.

The new graphical utilities are gorgeous, and it is something I'm looking forward to using fully when my company upgrades sometime in 2009.

This updated Office version is a super total package for the home and school. It has been simplified so that even a beginning user can use all the included software. Love it.
