GREAT GAME!!! February 8, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is best if you have played the main quest of oblivion and some side quests. Also it is good if you have starten Knights of Nine because it helps you get the ropes a Shivering Isles is so different and creepy it is a lot better that way
Elder Scrolls Shirvering Isles PC CD version January 7, 2008 I've seen other reviews on the expansion about not being long enough. This entire series has been nothing but an endless joy for me! No-one wants the Quest to be over..But for every level you go up and what time of day it is, it is always different experience! About this expansion . I only have one small problem, which are the (greys) in Dementia. Some what like Bravil's homes. About The Prince of Madness, Sheogorath; I think he is very funny with a very spooky dark Daedric side! I've just begun my journey and so far the creatures I have run into are nothing like Cyrodils. The folks here are totally insane and so enjoyable to speak with! The Graphics bring out so much in personality and atmosphere of this Realm and its people!!! The character graphics have more detail and personality! I hope Bethesda keeps the series going!
Not as engaging as the original story December 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found the events in Shivering Isles more of a nuisance than a challenge, especially since I entered it with a 30+ level character. The story line is not terribly engaging, especially after having just saved the entire world of Tamriel for disaster. Now I'm talking to nutty characters who have me chasing after forks.
But that's just the story part. The gameplay is creative and fun, with many novel twists on moving from task to task. Creatures are not terribly varied. The dialogue by NPCs is creative, but basically pretty goofy (they're all crazy, see, so you will click through a lot of "fiddle faddle").
Bottom line: I find myself popping out of Shivering Isles and heading back to Tamriel. I guess I just like the feel of Tamriel over the psychodelic world of Shivering Isles. Even though in many ways SI is much darker, it has a much more cartoon-y feel to it that doesn't hold my attention as much.
Great Expansion November 28, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have really been enjoying this expansion. If you really enjoyed the original Oblivion game then you should really enjoy the expansion. The Shivering Isles adds a new land with many new items and characters.
Original art and story, no gameplay changes September 18, 2007 1 out of 10 found this review helpful
If you liked Oblivion, then I'm sure this expansion is great. It has some beautifully weird scenery that is completely different from Oblivion's or any of the other TES games. In addition, the quest are involved, original, and fun
On the other hand, it has the same gameplay issues that made Oblivion a terrible RPG: leveled items/creatures, fast travel, and generic dungeons.
Fact is, this expansion is even easier than Oblivion. If youve already levelled high enough in Oblivion, the whole expansion and most of the items in it are a joke. I dont think I died once. How fun is that? I know I dont like it when I never die in FPS's but for some reason people think its ok in Oblivion.
