My husband bought RosettaStone Spanish (Latin America) for me and my daughter for Christmas. I was doubtful we would use it consistently and also wondered about the quality. It is excellent! I speak and understand some Spanish because my family is originally from South America but I left when I was almost 2. My daughter is almost 10 and knows very little. The two of us can use this program and go at our own pace. My daughter actually likes it! And the other day after just a month of using RosettaStone, we were in a store where someone came in speaking Spanish and my daughter turns to me and says with wide eyes "I can understand what they are saying!" I am happy to say I am learning spelling and grammar that I didn't know before. Great software for all levels. I highly recommend it.

My wife and I bought Rosetta Stone because of the six month guarantee. We called the company directly and the help person told us to keep trying, "you've got six months to return it." We finally gave up and turned toward another program that works better and called Rosetta Stone to return/refund. Not only did they not guarantee it for six months, there was NO guarantee at all through the company because "you purchased it through Amazon or other retailer."
Only thanks to Amazon's extended holiday return policy were we lucky enough to get in under that wire and return this product that didn't work for us at all! (The program does not Romanize the words, but uses the Korean characters.) Hope this helps.

In lesson 1-9 and so far enjoying it. I find that I have to disengage my brain a little bit after the lessons to think back in English. I have found it helpful already not to read as the words are being spoken but close my eyes and then try to associate the phrase with the picture.
Also, before you purchase this, check with your local library. I am using this free right now with my library's online system.

I have the Spanish and the French Rosetta Stone's and they have been a great success for me! I have a hard time hearing other languages but I can go over and over Rosetta stone until I get it right. Also it will prompt me again after a few weeks to have a refresher.
I do think a tutor would help, but not for all.

i purchased levels 1-3. the level 1 beginners, is very very beginner. if you know any spanish at all, bypass level 1 completely. also alot of time the voice recognition does not accept what i say and i have to say it the exact same way 3-4 times. other than that it is an ok product
