Waste of money February 12, 2008 33 out of 38 found this review helpful
I have had previous Microsoft Office programs for over a decade. I thought "Why not just use WORKS? It's so much cheaper and compatible". Bad idea - it saves ALWAYS in unusual Works formats, so other people cannot read your work without Works. There is no (known) way to save always in another form - EVERY time you want to save as another (more compatible form) you have to go a select it - it does not remember, and it tries to force you into the Works format.
Similarly, if I have just gone to the trouble to SAVE in .rtf or .txt form and then close the file right away, it asks if I want to save the changes I just made! But it means "as a Works" file. Lame, too much work. Very slow to work this way. I have had to change to another word processing and spreadsheet program because this was TOO incompatible with their own formats. It CAN be compatible, but it takes far too long.
Upgrade version7 to 9 February 9, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I didnt find buying version 9 worth while. I mainly use the database and was hoping that upgrading from version 7 to version 9 would allow coloring of entries. That is still not possible so I wasted my money.
more over-priced nonsense January 27, 2008 25 out of 27 found this review helpful
First, you should know that Open Office from Sun Microsystems blows away MS Works and is absolutely free.
Second, Works still has features that it can't support. For example, it has greeting card templates, but does not have features like "rotate" that are absolutely necessary if you're going to make a greeting card!
In fact, Works is sadly lacking in features. It looks fancy, but its functionality is very poor.
I'm just glad it came free with my computer and I didn't pay money for it.

Not as good as previous versions! December 8, 2007 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Microsoft Works 9.0 Would have liked it better if it came with Streets and Trips, as the previous Works Suites versions came with. Microsoft probaly did this for more money. Making you buy the Streets and Trips seperatly.
