Average game November 14, 2008 Pros: Many different weapons and armor. Scary monsters. From the creater of Diablo.
Cons: Story is boring. The setting is boring. Subway stations are really exciting. Locations are bland and repetitive. Story is not engaging and comes across has shallow. Playing multiplayer feels like playing single player. Come Febuary 2009, It will be a single player only game due to the company going bankrupt. This could change, I hope so.
It was entertaining, but buggy as hell... November 11, 2008 Grabbed 2 copies for my wife and I on release day a year ago. We tried playing for about a month. The party functions were just horrible, most of the time we would both jump into the same zone only to not be able to see eachother. Atleast 2-3 bugs found a night with casual play.
It might have been entertaining as a single player, but not for the $50 I paid for it.
Now that they are shutting down the servers (which is true, I got the announcement from them), it's more of a fancy coaster if anything. You won't be able to download the patches and the single player game will be horrible without them.
*****WARNING!!! DO NOT BUY THIS GAME************** October 28, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
It has been announced that the online servers for the North American and European versions of this game will be going offline after January 31, 2009. If you buy this game, you will be left with nothing but a VERY unstable Single-Player version. You have been warned!
Like a FPS Diablo (not diablo II) October 20, 2008 I'm about 80% done with the game, been playing it like a FPS with the engineer class. It's definitely a good time-killer, and I find that playing from the first person perspective much more enjoyable than the 3rd person perspective in Diablo I and II.
I was part of the beta test, and from that I anticipated waiting for it to hit the discount rack. Had I paid $50-60 I would have been disappointed. But at less than $20, it's a good game.
Despite what I've read in at least one review, you do not need to register to get the (HIGHLY) recommended updates. Admittedly, I am using an older gaming laptop (Ferrari 4000 series), but the framerate consistency before patching was horrible. It still chokes up at times, but not so much that I can't run back into a clear location to let the framerate stabilize.
At the current price, this is a clear winner.
Fun and worth the money but not much more. October 7, 2008 For the price It's at now around 15$ it is well worth it not only that but the only mmo sort of play it has to is also free wich is basicly the exact same thing as the single player but just online allowing you to form parties with other players. The game has a strong story fun gameplay and interesting combat elements all which add up to make a pretty good game.
