fun but challanging October 10, 2008 a mental challange and frustrating trying to have a higher score than the last game. had played it on line in the past and its wonderful to be able to quit and continue at the same place at another time
Great fun and Addicting! September 3, 2008 I never thought I would enjoy a computer game so much. It is just the right combination of skill and luck! I'm hooked!
Great Fun! August 29, 2008 This game will give you hours of fun. It is challenging and passes the time away. You are playing it for the longest time before you even realize all this time has passed. I recommend it highly for any age. The "Action Game" choice will drive you crazy trying to get the words before the red tiles appear! But crazy in a good way! A fun way!
Initially Addictive January 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When you first start, this game can be very addictive especially in the Action Game (timed). However, if you're a real word fanatic, after several weeks you'll notice that some of the accepted words are not real words. They don't exist in even the Oxford Dictionary, while others are not only arcane, but are from or in Old High German or Scottish, and I even found one that was Icelandic.
While I'm not that much of a purist, you can rack up 7 million points based upon words that won't even come up in the New York Times Sunday crossword puzzle! (By the way, the maximum score according to the folks at PopGames is 3 billion. You can't do that in the timed mode without getting into everything from slang to abbreviations to a great deal of luck.)
Bookworm Deluxe is still fun, but I do wish they had gone "legit" (which is a word according to the makers, but an abbreviated one or slang according to everyone else. Still, it would make a great gift for that someone who loves screwing around with words.
an old favorite January 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game kinda keeps my mind challenged. I play a bit of scrabble and it helps with that. I like that they give you challenge words to make and that there are a lot of new words I've learned. No game is perfect, some words it doesn't accept. It does stop "bad" words and it is very easy to catch on. Great for 8+ and a good one to play while someone on the phone has put you on hold. Speakerphone & Bookworm deluxe make a good combo :)I've seen whole families play and the best word I witnessed was reunited.
