1 out of 5 stars Horrible software sold by a truly evil company.   July 9, 2008
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

For heaven's sake find some other software for your accounting. We've been struggling with Quicken for months, both at home and at my business.

This company spends most of its effort on reducing the choices consumers have so it has to spend little or no time on producing software that works.

Banks are forced to pay fees to use the ever-changing file formats, which means that both banks I use now no long support any sort of file exchange, so we have to enter transactions manually. I can see almost any point on the Earth for free in a few seconds using Google Earth, but thanks to Quicken 2008, I can't download a few simple numbers from my bank.

1 out of 5 stars The worst program ever!   July 4, 2008

This is the worst program I've ever used in my life. I am deeply sorry that I went ahead a couple months ago and bought this software. The program is not easy to use, and never updates my transactions successfully. I have spent hours trying to download my transactions and there's always one issue or the other. Moreover, I was sorely disappointed that in the end I would have to pay to use Bill Pay. The program is utterly worthless and had I known it earlier, I would have saved my money and made better use of it and my time by doing my accounts the old-fashioned way!

1 out of 5 stars I give up!   July 1, 2008
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

I have been a Quicken user for 14 years and Quicken also required me to upgrade in order for me to continue using Quicken Bill Pay (from Quicken 2005). So, I upgraded two months ago. I found Quicken 2008 to run so slowly it was barely usable. Then when I went to pay bills (which I have done for years with Quicken Bill Pay), Quicken kept dating my bills to be paid in the year 2269 (which I liked, but my creditors wouldn't). I have spent hours trying to solve these problems with Quicken customer service, but they can't figure it out and just continue to send me further time-consuming instructions to get the program to work. I won't spend one more minute on it and after 14 years of use and 14 years of data, I give up on this product! I am going to use my bank's bill-paying service.

1 out of 5 stars I am converting to MS Money   June 26, 2008

I have been a loyal user of Quicken since Ver 1.0 (over 15 years). But I have had it. I was using Q2006 more or less used to its quirks when I was forced to upgrade to 2008 in order to continue to download financial data. That was three months ago. It has been h*** ever since. There are bugs in the way it handles stock transactions, it gets caught in what appears to be an infinite loop when plotting net worth vs. time, the well-discussed flicker problem is absolutely horrible... There was a time when I swore by this software...now I swear at it. I spent all day yesterday transferring to MS Money (not an easy task). Frankly Money is not perfect but it appears to be more stable. I may take a look at gnuCash as an alternative. The bottom line...do not purchase Quicken 2008. I was a fool to not read reviews on Q2008 before upgrading...the truth is all over the net.

3 out of 5 stars A disappointment   June 24, 2008

I was very happy with Quicken 2006. I had to upgrade because some of my online banks no longer recognized the older version. It was a waste!! It'll take me a day to figure out how this version works. But NONE of the banks that I use recognize this version. A reviewer before me said it best, check to see if your bank(s) accept this. Otherwise you may be better off sticking with an older version
