Quicken still good October 27, 2007 4 out of 13 found this review helpful
I don't think I could do my check book the old fashioned way anymore. This version has some nice changes, but is still easy to work.
Nothing new - same old problems October 25, 2007 51 out of 51 found this review helpful
If you already own an earlier version of Quicken within the last couple of years, save your money and don't bother with this. Quicken has added a lot of stupid "enhancements" that are cosmetic, and often make it worse - for example, the new way they highlight the transaction you are looking at, which partially blocks the neighboring transaction, or the "renaming" function, which is way too aggressive. This, for example, renamed a restaurant named Bay Ridge to ebay, and a parking facility called avistar into avis. This caused me much time on the phone with the merchant trying to resolve the charge until I figured it out.
Meanwhile, they have completely failed to repair some of the key problems that have existed for several versions, and have failed to add any meaningful or useful enhancements. I returned this version to Quicken. I would suggest that, unless you have a strong reason to switch, or are a new Quicken user, you save your money and work with the version you have.
The old days of Intuit being a customer focused organization which really understands the customers' needs and develops their software accordingly are long gone. Evidently, Intuit is internally focused and is not paying attention to their users any more.
Some data importation problems October 20, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Overall the program works well, with the exception of the retirement planner. It imported the data from Quicken 2007 into the retirement planner incorrectly. Now the program uses the $ from my savings & retirement accounts for current expenses rather than using my current salary for that. It only allows me to pick "General Expenses" as to what the accounts will be used in the planner. So now it just shows my retirement savings dissappearing in 5 years. As far as I can tell there is no way to resolve this. It also will not let me delete the plan & start over. So now the planner is useless to me. Since that planner is one of my favorite features, I was really disappointed. Hopefully a correction for this will be released soon.
Not so intuitive for MS Money users October 18, 2007 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
I have put off using Quicken until I have available time to do so. As a MS Money user, and novice to Quicken, I have found troubles in understanding its features, and how to register information. Perhaps because it is too easy, and I am more used to MS difficult way of doing things.
Works great! October 18, 2007 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
Upgraded from 99Delux by necessity (Vista Compatability). Combined with Pocket Quicken this is a great way to have your financial info at your fingertips. The software is very easy to configure and use, handles both personal and business finances.
