I'm sure I will love this product...once I learn how to use it! I find it to be very complicated and am a bit disappointed that I feel like I either need to take a class or buy a book in order to really utilize it. I'm sure it's great software but whose got the time to learn a whole program from scratch?

The photo Organizer.
What's good: I loaded more than 4,000 photos and was quickly able to organize them into albums and categories using drag-and-drop. I can get to the pictures I want very quickly. This is a HUGE time-saver. Cons: The organizer runs as a separate executable from the editor. There are times when I'm in the Organizer and I want to do things that can only be done in the editor and vice-versa. Luckily it's possible to toggle back and forth between the two, although at times thie may become annoying. Net-net the GOOD FAR OUTWEIGHS the bad.
Photo Editor: Although I'm a novice photographer, I thought the editor was great. During the trial I took nature photos and the editor was a real asset. This is one of the main reasons I purchased the software. Cons: The band-aid/healing wand wasn't as good as I was led to believe. There are some corrections that worked out great, and others that didn't work at all. It's great for removing wrinkles in old photos, and fixing minor flaws. Net-net - It's a great asset, but it's over-sold; I was disappointed.
Ease of Use - The Good: The Guided Editor lets new users get things done without the use of documentation. Just press the buttons and change the settings. You can always use the Undo features if you don't like the changes. The BAD: You may find, as I did, there's a huge gap between what's easy to do and what you want to do.
The WORST: The help files are the WORST of any Windows software I have EVER used. If I had had more time, I would've checked out other software. ALL of the help files are on-line. This means you have to log online and stay online for the entire session if you don't already know how to do everything. For many people this requires plugging in a cable-modem/DSL box that wastes electricity needlessly. (NOT VERY GREEN THINKING ADOBE!!!!)
Without decent help files, you may either have to spend more money on books and classes or spend countless hours wasting time with trial and error. This makes the software more expensive than it seems.
We can only hope that Adobe will address this issue SOON!!! We can only hope that Adobe will create help files that licensed customers can download to their pcs. I was really shocked at how bad the help files were because it's really powerful software
 Amatuer photgraphers answer to easy editing April 27, 2008

As an amatuer photographer with little time to spare who is color deficient (commonly referred to as color-blind but that is not accurate), I needed an easy tool to fix my digital photographs and give me flexibility to make prints for family and friends. Prior version of Adobe Photoshop Elements, 4 and 5, didn't have all the capabilities I wanted and Adobe Photoshop CS was far to complex and expensive. With version 6 of Elements, they incoporated many PS CS tools and it's defeintely the best product I have used, among several I bought and tried. The only thing I do not like is the base dark background for the screens. I have difficulty seeing the components, even on my very good LCD monitor. Also, the instructions available with the product are really inadequate and very rudimentary. I had to buy several books to actually learn the software. The Photoshop Elements 6 - The Missing Manual is the best such book.

Excellent product, marred by extremely poor directions.
Fortunately I have a good friend who has used Photoshop for uears.
He was my teacher. Spent hours with me, and is still available.
