Problems with Vista and converting trial version--very aggravating January 16, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I've been using PSE4 for a couple years now, no problems. I got a new Vista system, so I decided to download the trial version of PSE6. There are definitely some bugs in PSE6 to begin with, but imagine my extreme aggravation when I purchase PSE6 on CD before my trial runs out. I cannot get the code to work. WTH? I pay for the CD, but Adobe tells me that the serial number is invalid. Ironically, I was expecting this issue, since I had heard about it while researching PSE6.
Thankfully, I had seen an apparent solution beforehand (see Timothy Jackson's 01-07-08 review for instructions). I WISH that would work for me, but it doesn't. I downloaded the patch, and followed all the instructions perfectly, but I still cannot switch from the trial version to the paid version.
I am beyond aggravated at this point, and now I have a long phone call to tech support to look forward to--ugh!!! I regret downloading the trial at all, but I NEED Photoshop for my artwork, so I am in limbo right now.
I might just install PSE4 onto my Vista system and call it a day, although that will probably be fraught with problems as well. (sigh)
Adobe needs to get their act together. I picture a bunch a squirrels creating software in a tree trunk and releasing it before it's finalized. What a shame, as I love what I create in Adobe. I cannot say the same about the software itself at this point.
A bit disappointing January 15, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this software not knowing that it does not come with a manual. I think it is quite misleading, you'd think you would be able to download some kind of manual on-line. All I've found is a few lame tutorials that really don't help much. It's so obvious that a manual is "missing" that a book has been written called "The Missing Manual for Photoshop Elements 6". Also, I was disappointed with the level of support. I called the 800 number regarding the license agreement (how many copies I can load on computers) and waited on hold until I gave up. I finally found it when I went to load it on my desktop pc in the license agreement fine print. I would have thought it would be on the packaging? Needless to say, it is a slow process trying to figure things out without a manual. I will have to wait until I can buy the "book" to get serious about using it. I don't think I'll be buying another Adobe product.
Very Good January 14, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have Photoshop CS 2.......didn't want to buy CS3 just because I purchased a new camera.....so I got Elements 6.0 and find it to be as good as CS2......I think it is great for an amateur Photographer.....especially the Black and White conversions....

A Great Product Except... January 14, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Adobe Photoshop Elements is a great product for touching up your photos. You can load it and navigate through some basic procedures (loading pictures, quick edits, etc.) but after that what do your do?
Although there is an online manual, the one sent with the program is closer to a pamphlet. Your next step is investing $25-$40 on a good textbook. I bought "Teach Yourself Visually Elements 6". The upcoming "The Photoshop Elements 6 for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby will be great judging by his version for Elements 5.

Photoshop Elements 6 January 13, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I purchased this program with the intention of using it and learning as I go. I'm in IT for a living so computer programs usually come naturally, Photoshop was the exception. Most programs will come with a manual to at least give you the basics but not Elements 6. I have tried to figure out things that should be simple only to fail. I have located several books that help with this, including one called Photoshop Elements 6 The Missing Manual. I would recommend the program but be prepared to spend $30.00 extra dollars on a manual or it's worthless.
