1 out of 5 stars Not worth your money   December 1, 2007

Not worth your money. We are living a sweet moment with so many excellent games out. It is unfortunate that badly done and badly finished games like this are being bought by people that could be playing some really sweet titles instead.

1 out of 5 stars A really BAD port !!!   November 28, 2007

This game is actually pretty terrible on Windows. It is more fun on the XBOX, but definitely not on Windows. This game is a port, which means it was designed to run on a console but was "tweaked" to make it run on a PC. This is almost never a good thing to do! This time, it is down right horrible.

The graphics are outdated, the camera angles are terrible, you have to survive between save spots which the game does automatically for you, the gun fights are the same thing over and over. VERY repetitive and so obvious you can predict the attacks every time. Not to be mean, but I think the other reviewers here must have been under 15 years old, because only someone so young could still be satisfied by a game this lame.

The voice acting is forced, the story line is good but who cares about story lines? If you are going to pay $45, do you really want a story line or do you want a good FPS???!!!

The game play is not as smooth as it should be. You cling to walls when you don't want to, fight the camera to get good shooting angles, your teammates get in the way constantly or the shoot you apart and at times they cannot hit the broad side of a ware house! It is not easy to control your men or position them either. This requires some complicated keyboard combos that are not easy when you are getting pounded by some ridiculously accurate at times bad guys!!

Bad cut scenes, that some times you cannot skip past. UGGGHH!
Bad game play.
Bad voice acting.
Bad, out dated graphics.
Bad camera angles.
Bad keystroke combos.
Bad bugs that cause the story to halt at times.
BAD.
BAD.
BAD.

Not worth $15 in the discount bin. Don't bother with this until it is less than $15. Why blow $45 on this when COD 4, Crysis, UT 3, Time Shift and many others are out there that will definitely provide much more entertainment for you and higher replay value!

2 out of 5 stars A COCTAIL OF Max Payne & Hitman THAT NEEDED MORE SHAKING.   November 18, 2007

This is a game that enjoys one of the most SOLID story-lines that came out of game developing in the last 3 years. Unfortunately, this was NOT enough.

You are Kane, an aged mercenary and former member of a criminal brotherhood known as The 7. The last heists failed, you get arrested and convicted - yet you are a traitor in The 7's books anyway. Having you for making off with the loot somehow, they send Lynch (a psychotic, easily distracted and pill-popping murderer) to first break you out of prison and then make sure he gets their money back. They are sure you will play ball: they have kidnapped your wife and daughter to ensure it.

Now this is a foundation to built a GREAT TPS game! Unfortunately KANE & LYNCH does not reach the top floor as the game demonstrates all the flaws of a rushed release.

The character movements feel too scripted and automatic at some places (a console left-over I guess) whereas they have to be spoon-fed detailed directions at some others. Since one cannot predict where the one or the other will occur, it will eventually get on your nerves.

The squad curse is not lifted for KANE & LYNCH either: the AI of your squad is infantile at best - but you will be thankful that your enemies do not demonstrate a higher one either!
Also, the game is pretty short: it shouldn't take you more than 7 hours on normal difficulty.

Graphically this is a beautiful game - notably though not at par with, say, CRYSIS. Keep in mind that the strength of KANE & LYNCH is its story.
The gameplay and the cut-scenes blend seamlessly and the story flows like an A-List movie. And you will definitely not get bored: from the inside of a prison, to rappelling from a skyscraper, to escaping a packed Tokyo dance club...

Although a well developed character story and a visually well designed game, they did NOT complete their follow through!

A disappointment...
