Apple Airport Extreme Base Station (gigabit) October 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased one of these from the Apple Store locally last week. Brought it home and set it up from the new Macbook all seemed well. (I specifically purchased this for the usb print and hard drive abilities and mac and win support) All was well on the Mac and then for the XP SP3 machines, all well except printing. What no printing and no real help or suggestions. My own troubleshooting answered it, for whatever reason the included airport extreme cd does not correctly install Bonjour for Windows (required for printing), and you will not get errors during the install just no printing. SOLUTION: Download Bonjour for Windows from Apple site run and choose to remove Bonjour and after that completes re-run and all is well. The one windows printing glitch is the difference in 4 star vs. 5 star rating. This is a great solid router for mixed environment with printing and hard drive abilities. Worth the $180.

Looking forward to my first Mac Computer and to have a wireless set up. Originally purchased it to make a new compter in my art room wireless... only to find out that I had to buy more stuff...I sent that computer back. So I really haven't tested out the airport to the full. That is why I have rated it 4 stars. But all in all..It was easy to install. And even though I had purchased it used. Apple customer srevice was very helpful. I needed help getting the amber light to go green. To know in the future I will be getting that level of customer service is comforting. Especially.... in this day of "overseas" help.
Seagate Picky October 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Sets up beautifully and intuitively. Had trouble hooking up a Seagate 1T external drive. Western Digital passport worked beautifully. Once I swapped the Seagate for a 1T Lacie, all was well. The Lacie also let me format part of the drive for our Mac and part for the PC. Love my wireless network now.
This is the way that hardware should work October 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm very happy with this device. Solved lot of problems generated by a d-link 655 that is now out of use. I purchased a second one to increase the coverage in my property. The installation can't be more easy. It's different from all routers out there, but it's very, very easy. Coverage is very good and speed is great. Good product, like everything from Apple.
Great features, great performance, easy setup October 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Easy to set up, not intrusive, feature-set comparable (in some cases, better) than most stock firmwares from the likes of linksys, etc. I do wish there was an option to trigger WOL over the LAN but, aside from that, unit is sitting nicely in our media closet with our printer attached and shared over the network. Performance over cat 5e is excellent.
