5 out of 5 stars Excellent and essential for Small Business   October 15, 2007

I have a consulting practice which is incorporated as S-Corporation. I have been using Quickbooks since 1997-1998, and I do my own accounting and Business Tax preparation using TurboTax for business. These two software go hand-in-hand and it is very easy to prepare your own taxes.

If you have never done any accounting previously, using Quickbooks or any other accounting package may appear to be intimidating initially. I was very intimidated when I had to do accounting. I am a computer professional and didn't know anything about accounting. I compared two accounting software during the period 1997-1998, and I selected Quickbooks since it was less intimidating and contained less accounting jargons. Also it shared some features with Quicken, with which I was familiar. That tilted my decision towards Quickbooks.

After starting to use Quickbooks, I never regret buying it. I learned a lot of new things about accounting, and many ways to save taxes, which I couldn't have done otherwise. After using Quickbooks for a few months, I became very confident of handling the accounts for my small business. I never used the services of an accountant. If I need any financial information about my company, Quickbooks has that information and I can easily pull up the information very fast using it's various reports and charts. Quickbooks saved me a lot of accounting labor and keeps me out of any trouble with the IRS.

If you haven't started using Quickbooks, please buy a copy and start using it. It will save you a lot of money in many ways. It will teach you how to save money by giving you the whole picture of business accounting and how it is linked to Tax preparation and tax savings. Tax-saving is not to be done during March when Tax returns are due with IRS. Instead "Tax-saving" is a year-long process and Quickbooks will help you plan ahead.

I also use Quickbooks to keep track of accounting for a non-profit corporation with which I am closely involved. It can prepare nice reports for the non-profit corporation's finances.

I started with Quickbooks during year 1997. Since then, each new version has improved features. But the price tag is also going high. I have beta tested the new Quickbooks-2008 and it impressed me. I strongly recommend Quickbooks-2008 for small business owners and also for small non-profit corporations. Another noteworthy feature is its multi-user capability, and it will be very handy if more than one user is handling the accounts.

5 out of 5 stars Easily the best Quickbboks ever   October 15, 2007

I'm biased because I've been using Quickbboks since old DOS days and I beta tested this year's product.
As a tax preparer I see over a hundred clients' QuickBooks files every year. The new help system and tutorial videos will make it easier for my clients who are just getting started. The new "Send a Copy to my Accountant" feature alone will be worth the price of the upgrade for many users.
Gotta love a product that makes life so easy for users that don't want to know accounting but still keep control of everything financial.

5 out of 5 stars Accounting Made Simple   October 15, 2007

I've used Quickbooks to manage my real estate practice and construction business for 5 years. Quickbooks just gets it right year after year. Each version is an improvement on the previous. Now I'm using QD2008 Premier. I like to make money, but I don't like be play bookkeeper. This program makes it simple for me to prepare records that my accountant and the IRS like.

5 out of 5 stars Return to Quickbooks   October 15, 2007

This version brought me back to Quickbooks. I had used Microsoft Office Accounting 2007 (I'm a Microsoft Partner) for some time, but it just didn't do the things that Quickbooks did to make data entry easy and fast.

I love Quickbooks 2008! The workflow is clear and easy, and the features are powerful!

5 out of 5 stars Beta Tester: Romantic Escapades   October 15, 2007

have been using QuickBooks since V2 and have used every version since. This is the best version ever. Speed has been increased. Loads faster. Reports generate faster. I only wish when you paid a bill using a credit that the bill payment stub would show the bill paid and credit used!
