Beware! May 15, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a terrible product. I was unable to install it, despite hours on the phone with Microsoft support.
Not the best, but good for a home/basic user May 15, 2008 The thing that interested me the most in this product was that you could install it on three computers. That is perfect because that is how many computers my home office/game room has.
But there are better products out there.
If the idea was that you only needed one product and this was it, then Microsoft really missed the boat. Virus definitions seem a bit behind Kaspersky and others and the fact that it doesn't block SPAM like other software is a bit alarming.
For basic protection, this might be the way to go. But if your computer habits are beyond the basics then I'd suggest another product.
Great Amazon Product and deal! April 28, 2008 A great Amazon product and a fantastic malware suite by Microsoft. Great deal, great dealer with a great product.
This is from Microsoft? April 23, 2008 Over the years, I've gotten used to Microsoft tedium - their packaging, their activation policies, their security, etc.
I've used Norton 360 and Trend Micro's PC-Illin. Each is quite good and can be installed on up to three PCs, too. OneCare is better at network monitoring, drive defragging, printer sharing, and common backup - and getting better at virus identification.
Microsoft is about to release version 2.5. Presumably, users can update automatically online.
This is a superb product, Microsoft.
Really Bad April 20, 2008 I purchased this with high expectations and it turned bad real quick, stay away from especially if you use a dial-up connection. It took over an hour to install and then a couple hours more downloading updates and after 2 weeks it quit downloading any updates and keeps warning me that my system is at risk because I didn't have the latest up dates. When I click on update it start searching for updates but never gets them even when I waited an hour. Microsoft suggested re-installing, I may be retired but I have better things to do with my time.Windows Live OneCare 2.0
